I know that body work is required for these extra wide flares. I know that unless you buy the offset rims and wider tires, it won't look good. So is the on-road ride going to be compromised by the much wider contact patch and heavier rubber? I absolutely love the way it makes the 200 series look. Its more like an 80 series. However, it is going to be very hard for me to want to cut into the factory fenders and quarters just to get that 80 series look that I want out of the 200. My 200 is black and has the 20 inch Sequoia wheels on it. It looks a lot better with these wheels and larger Michelin tires that the dealer installed.
I want to know how the truck would look with the Arctic truck flares and stock wheels with wider tires. I wondered if anyone has successfully balanced the wider flares with a more available U.S. Wheel and tire package.
I am not sure if it would be a good option to use wheel extensions and my Sequoia wheels.
Any constructive thoughts?

Think I'm qualified to answer?

For looks alone, I would not bother. You will need to stick the wheels out 30+mm per side. Ride will not be impacted, but tough to do with the Wheels you have (that's too much for spacers and safety). I have some pics with standard wheels and flares on, looks rubbish.

Mine was done for enhanced ability on 35" tires, so the offset and then Flares were needed. As an added bonus the look is sweet too, bit of work needed.

Have you thought about the factory Flares as an option??

Thanks for the feedback. I hope you enjoy your truck as much as I do.

Factory flares? Please elaborate. I had to order most of my accessories from Toyota Australia or Canada.

You are definitely qualified to answer. I been thinking about my needs and 35s are not in the cards. I want the front ARB bar and the Arctic trucks flare kit. I guess I will have to buy the offset wheels as well. It's hard for me to believe that the road characteristics of the 200 will not be dramatically changed when running 35s. I don't know if the truck would look right with the flares and smaller tires. Your truck looks balanced and more like traditional 80 series styling. I like that. I don't like the factory flare option. It accentuates the ugly body lines around the wheel wells.

I'm with you on the factory flares, they do nothing for me.

My Wheels are 10" wide, so that offset is also plus an inch or so in extra rim width. If you stick with 8" wheels you will need a lot more, but will look good if you can get them out close to the flare lip. I would go wide tires and 10" wheels though.

Do you know what the available options are regarding wheel and tire packages that work right with the flares? I saw the post on the two modified show 200s and liked the front bumper. I wonder how the arctic flares would fit with that bumper. What mods did you do to make the ARB fit with your flares? Your 200 is what I hope to do with mine.

We sell the correct Arctic flare and 17" wheel/tire combo as a package. You can either have us build the rig turn key or order the parts.

Cost

What do you charge for the wheel/tire package and flares? I'm too far away from SoCal to make it cost effective. I want to see exactly what body mods have to be made before I can make a decision to do it. Do you have photos or video of the mods? If I could see such then I may do the mods myself and order the parts from you.

Interesting turn in the thought process. I want to do a ballsbygm type modification but can't pull the trigger until I see the body work required to do the flares and tubbing for inner wheel well clearance. Then these control arms might be interesting. How are the control arms different?

We will post the parts up on our website with prices, feel free to visit anytime. Flares will be in body components, and the wheels will be in the wheel/tire section. As of the install, we have a truck coming next month that we will document.

A Tundra has a 3.3 inch wider track than the LC according to the specs. on Toyota's website. Think that means that if one is able to replace enough of the LC's suspension and drivetrain pieces with Tundra suspension and drivetrain pieces, one could end up with a working LC with a wider track without having to resort to wheels or spacers.

Probably need a donor Tundra to start with, as who knows what will have to be swapped, modified, re-bracketed, etc. to make everything work.

It is a very interesting idea; I'm not going to be first.

One will need upper/lower arms, cv axles, inner and outer tierods. Wouldn't be a bad idea to match the spring shock combo to it, either. No frame or bracketry type mods should be required.

What about the rear?

9.5" Tundra axle housing with 200 bracketry.... so I retract the no bracketry type mods.

It does seem like a really clean way to get a wider track to go with flares and a moderate lift.

Keep the thought process going and well have a reasonable recipe for success. I don't know what difference in modification to the inner wheel wells this would make. Ballsbygm had to modify the inner wheel wells. I wish that Bushwacker would make a 200 flare that is about the same size as an 80 series flare which would allow the wheel arches to be cut out like the Arctic flares. They would make them cheaper and they already have the OEM style. We used to cut our little Broncos the minute after we bought them. It's a shame Toyota has made it this hard again. Maybe one of the Toyota stores could put all the tundra parts in a wide track kit for us and have the bracketry pre-modified on the rear tundra axle to fit in the LC frame. Sure sounds expensive.
