Work Agenda for Saturday January 9th:

Begin at 9:30 am.
Pull truck out of corner and setup within reach of the welder.

Pull rear springs out and put in reworked springs with MAF AAL’s.
Set rear axle pinion angle for DC Shaft (pointing right at tcase.)
Weld Ford shock towers in place (driver’s side will need mods.)
Fab lower rear axle shock mounts from old stock u-bolt plates and weld them on.
Measure for driveshaft lengths and shock lengths.

If by some miracle all this is done then we can move onto the “simple stuff.”
Install front and rear calipers with new pads.
Run brake lines.
Weld on brake line supports.

Potential attendance list for Saturday:
Jose
Frank (might come Sunday instead)
Dave West (only in morning.)
Tittus
Doug might stop by
Other guy from Tuesday’s meeting might stop by (drives an FJ40 and I forgot his name, starts with an M.)

Please let me know if anyone else is planning on coming so I can bring appropriate drinks and snacks.

Cool.

Are there ANY tools that you might need? How about shade? How are you on chairs, radio, latex gloves, etc. etc.?

Jose,
I have two chairs, one radio, and plenty of latex gloves.

Finished installing rear spring packs. Main goal is welding rear perches and shock mounts tomorrow. Shouldn't be too hard. I checked the brakes and found that I need cap screws, not hex heads for the front calipers since they are such a tight fit next to the knuckles. Needless to say, no one carries the metric bolts I need so they will have to be custom ordered and here by Monday.

I have air hose if anyone wants to bring air tools.

Dave West has to leave early so I will be meeting him at 9am. I will be there at 8am to set up welder and food.

Randy,
How'd it go today? Are you going to be working on it tomorrow? I intended to be there today but had priorities hit me up-side the noggin:princess::bang:.
What do you have left to do.
Bill

We had fun...I don't think he's working on it tomorrow, but I'd make sure and ask him.

He got a lot done, but there is still more to do.

We even had time to work on my and Manuchao's 60. Easy stuff.

Went Canyoneering Sunday instead of working because I need cap screw bolts instead of hex head bolts to hook up the brakes. Ended up tearing open part of my ear today and having to get 12 stiches. I plan on working on the remaining stuff during the week after work and then doing the front shocks with Peter (aka Dynasaur) on a sunday in the future.

Do tell.. how you manage to do that !!!! did you try to belay from your ear or sumthing.... :)

C'on speak up...

Sunday morning was spent ascending cucamonga river canyon. Lot's of fun technical rope work. Later on we decended using a rappel with zip line assit. Once all the technical stuff was over I took off my harness and helmet and we started walking out the 2 mile dirt trail. The sun was low in the canyon and directly in our eyes. I duck to go under a tree and before I get to the tree my left ear catches on a three inch diameter branch. The tree won and ripped the middle back of my ear clean open. Pretend to grab the inside of your ear between your index finger and thumb. I ripped it all the way through. Luckily I had just volunteered to retrieve the rope that had sunk in our last pool of water and my ears were completely numb so I felt no pain during the incident. Five hours later and 12 stiches in I was on my way home. It was a great day and I think I made a lasting impression with the head of the San Bernandino Search and Rescue Leader (Sonny.) We had a great conversation and I plan on joining their cave rescue team because it has easier requirements than the SAR Team in Valencia.

Way to go dude.... Sonny is a great asset and a great guy to call a friend...

Hey look at it on the bright side you COULD get a nice ear ring on that ear now before it heals up....

FACT: Most injuries like the one you had happen on the approach or on the way out...
Suggestiion: Keep you helmet ON from beggining to end....

How come Im not supprised you retreived the rope...

Thanks for sharing and thanks for the assist/beta on the Hubs..
I'll be there on SAT and SUN.

The first thing I thought about when I caught my ear on the branch is that I should have been wearing my helmet on the way out... amateur mistake.

Good Job Van Gogh! You have a date set for the next work party?

Dynosoar (Peter)

Dave West has some spare shocks so we can do them this weekend on a sunday. I believe this upcoming saturday is reserved already for Jose's truck.

Maaaan, I was about to say "no you didn't!" haha.

Yeah, looks like it won't rain after all this Saturday and Sunday looks even nicer.

Will you be working on your 60 both sat and sun? If you're not working on your truck sun I will be working on mine.

Hmm, now I don't know if I'll work on it at all. I'm getting bummed telling you guys "Yes, we're on" and then "Now it's off".

As some of you know, I work for the phone company (AT&T) and because of the recent rains, we're getting swamped with work.

They told us today that there was a good chance that we'd work this weekend. I guess I can't complain because it's all overtime which means more stuff for my 60!

It's not set in stone though. I'll know in the next couple of days.

:bang:

If you don't do it this weekend I'll be putting my front shocks on.
