Slow day at work. I have been playing with the idea of trying an SOA on my M100 for awhile, and I figured what better way to get a fire call than to get deep into a project? I actually got the whole thing finished before the fire.:)

I still have 2 issues to deal with. I have to lengthen the brake cables and housings so I can get my parking brake back, and the landing leg needs to be extended. It looks kind of impractical (too high) but it does fine on the highway, not too sure offroad yet.

Wow, looks nice.

Didja fab the new multi-postion spring hangers in front? If so, details! If not, where'd they come from.

Also curious about your rims on the 40: split? Where'd ya get the hub covers?

Everything is stock on the trailer. I just unbolted the rear hanger, pulled the axle back, flipped it and bolted it back together. It was pretty simple.

The rims on the 40 aren't split, just the stock conventional rims. I think the hubcaps are reproductions but not sure. The ones correct for this year look more like a babymoon with the Toyota logo. I think these are from a later model. I've seen these hubcaps on ebay etc.

Here is how I extended my brake cables to fit...just made a longer mount plate & J-bolt for the brake lever assy...these pix are not mine, don't know whose they are.. but it sure worked slick!

Cheers from a former Kern County resident!

Thanks for the pics. I'll start on it tomorrow. Kern County is still hotter than HELL.:crybaby:

Finished up the brake mods and made a longer landing leg. I think I'ze done.:D

Very cool. One of these days I'll have to do that mod to my trailer. Not to be negative towards your build, but I would worry about the new front support leg collapsing. I would suggest that you modify the origina with an extension.

Love the LC.:D

Not a bad idea. I used steel plate and it does look pretty wimpy. I was actually trying to come up with some type of crank up leg that would mount to the same point so when I mount a RTT with some drop legs in the rear I'll be able to level the trailer. But that's down the road a bit.

Looks great fireflyr! I'm hoping to follow your example and SOA an M100 that I picked up last night. Now I'm a trailer newb as well as somewhat new to offroading (got an FJC in 2013 and it is my first "truck"/4wd). Did you end up using additional hardware for your SOA?

"Everything is stock on the trailer. I just unbolted the rear hanger, pulled the axle back, flipped it and bolted it back together. It was pretty simple."

Surely it is not as simple as moving the parts and using the same U-bolt and whatnot? Or is it?! If so, I'll plan to swap the parts positioning around during my strip down and rebuild process. If not, I'd love to know what parts or hardware that needed to be replaced for your SOA.

Again, great looking FJ and M100 you've got there!

It pretty much is that simple. What you probably want on hand are any rubber bushings to fit what is taken apart and reassembled. Unless recently overhauled, the ones on your trailer are likely hard and may chunk or crumble in the process. And why go to the trouble of doing this without R&Ring these inexpensive parts? I suspect fireflyr's trailer had fresh stuff on it from the looks of how he keeps his rig, so he may not have mentioned doing that particular R&R for that reason, it wasn't needed.

Many thanks greentruck. Using new hardware and especially new bushing makes sense and I plan to do that. Just need to find a list of what size bolts, etc will be needed. So many of mine seem very rusted. Just found the M100 manual so I've got some reading to do. Thanks!
