So the TWO rear screens can only do what the front screen is doing? (1 Viewer)

In 2016 they took the rear entertainment screen out of the headliner and put one behind each front seat. That obviously means that each rear passenger has their own entertainment choices now, right? I mean, if not, why split the one out-of-the-way screen into two huge in-your-face-screens? I've played around with the system a few times now and I can't figure out how to do anything except control the radio for the entire car.

The screens themselves are bigger than even the most low-tech tablets these days. They are attached to HUGE plastic mounts. Why in all that's holy does each one not have its own dvd player (or at least its own input) and radio tuner? Why can't the front passengers and each rear passenger be watching/listening to three totally different things?

Am I missing something? I've never had any sort of entertainment system in a car except an AM/FM/CD player. If I'm just not getting it I apologize. It's actually starting to sour me on the whole truck. The screens are antithetical to a rugged offroad vehicle. The fact that they are completely stupid makes them almost unbearable.

In the rear console where the AC controls are located there is a HDMI outlet. Buy a 3 feet HDMI cable and plug it in the rear hdmi outlet to your smart phone (iphone/android) or tablet and you will be able to project whatever on your mobile device to those screens (YouTube, videos etc). You will need a hdmi to usb adapter for your device.

Are the seats the same as the 2015 model without the screens? Seat swap?

I recently purchased a 2016 and was not a big fan of the rear screens. I think they certainly should be an optional item at a minimum.

But I will say my 4 year old takes a liking to them. She can watch a movie in the back on a drive to Tucson and it helps a ton. She has an iPad and that works great as well, but she likes to be able to try something new and this fits the bill. Some iPad time and some time with the screen and she's well occupied.

I've only messed with it a little but you can have different inputs front and rear but I found it difficult to set. The speaker output under REAR SOURCE is the key. I now have it set to DVD right rear and left rear and I can change the front to whatever I want for passengers without headphones. How I got there?... I don't know and I'm not going to touch it again until I have more time on my hands. It's not intuitive.

Someone here certainly has a good grip on the system and should be able to help. The NAV/Entertainment manual wasn't much help.

Good luck!

Each screen can have it's own input or all three can be on the same input. Honestly, my friends/family love it when we go on trips. We stack 8 adults in the car and they either play Mario kart, mirror my phone to watch Netflix/Hulu, or watch a DVD. Lots of fuss about these screens, but all my friends/family love to ride in the LC.

I'm with you. I haven't used them personally, but my 8 and 6 year old kids love them and have no problem switching them to whatever they need. Anything to entertain the kids on the long drives to Colorado, Utah, etc. makes my life easier.
