Grew up riding dirt bikes, crashed my first street bike after about 6 months. Rode often with large group on weekends, almost every week someone was in an accident. Now ride dirt only... I've been a medic with fire dept now 14ish yrs, hate to be dramatic but have pulled several helmets off DOA riders. Helmet and leathers offer minimal protection at best. They work at a track where you can slide unimpeded through deceleration area into specific barriers, not into some elderly drivers cadilac or into on coming traffic, I have seen gruesome injuries on residential streets to riders in "full gear" Set up at any intersection and watch the drivers on their cell phones blast through. Could go on and on with stories but you get the idea.
