So how do you hook up an elec antenna from a 62 on a 60?

Hello,
I just read another post about an antenna. Someone stated that you could hook up a complete 62 elec antenna in the 60. So how do ya do it? Where are the wires? What about a switch? Where does the motor go? WHat do I ask for at the dealer? Do they sell it as a kit?

Thanks,
Zack

I think SOR sells the antenna but once I saw the price it was an easy decision to not replace mine. I imagine wires and switches from a 62 would work just fine - someone's bound to have them if you have too much money sitting around...

It goes exactly the same location as the manual antenna. The wire harness is already there in the fender with the plug. Everything else regarding plugging it in to the radio is the same. The switch goes in the blank spot in the AC control panel along side the rear heater switch, rear wiper switch, etc. It plugs into the harness just like the others.

I don't have part numbers, but you need to order the FJ62 power antenna and switch from the Toyota dealer, who should be able to look them up.

I did this in my 60. Just remember to lower the antenna when you hit the brush. Ask me why I mention this.

SOR has current retail pricing. If you have a dealer that gives 25% off, then that'll give you an idea of what it would cost.

Call Toyota of Dallas at (972)241-6655, and ask for John Mock in parts, for current pricing.

The 60 and 62 use a slightly different switch. Works the same but looks and mounts slightly different.

I bought mine from Cruiserparts.net. I forget what I paid for it... It uses a standard 4runner mast, so you night check that option too.
