So guys, What's IN like?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate

Also there is plenty of mountain biking trails.

Don't forget road biking. Can you say "Little 5"? Indiana University Student Foundation

Another great thing is that you can ride your bike anywhere in town. There are plenty of bike lanes etc.

Unfortunately, there are no shooting ranges close by. There is always blasting in the forest though.

There are also plenty of pheasent/chukar farms around the state.

Nice job Ben! Nice pics, great looking family!

Do you guys get lots of 100+ degree days in the summer?

Ok guys- inteview is scheduled for the 29th at 1pm your time! :)

What's yer travel schedule Doc? You stayin' the night or making a quick 180 home after the interview?

If yer stayin' the night I'll PM you a # and we'll round up a few fellow cruiserheads to grab some eats and !

Sounds good guys! I'll take you up on the offer when I actually make the trip....

Next Tuesday is the pre-lim phone interview, I suppose if they like what they hear then I'll make the trip over there physically to check out the facility and maybe poke around the housing market. I imagine, if all goes well, and they 'want' me, then I'll be making a few trips out for housing purposes.

Good luck Doc!

B'ton Rocks

Doc,

I'm sorry that I haven't replied earlier, but thought I'd throw in my $.02. I've lived in more than 10 states and currently have two homes - one in Bloomington and one on Oahu. I like living in Bloomington (since 1978) better than anyplace I've lived, including Oahu! The only things I don't like about it are the hot days of July/August, but it's just typical midwest, nothing too bad; and the lack of real quality jobs. The university is the biggest employer and doesn't pay great and there is not a lot of industry. Of course you have a leg up as it's a job that may bring you to town.

Count me in on the get together when you come to town. I'll be here the rest of this week and all of next week.

Tim

Wow, that's saying something!

I've lived in OR, TN, MO, IA, and Washington DC... and I thought I lived in a lot of places!

I'm crossing my fingers on the pay... I know what the industry standard is for my level, and that would be about a $20k increase from what I'm currently making (Iowa pays well below standard). So, if they can pay me the industry standard, I'm all over it.

Biggest obstacle I see right now (assuming they like me and want to hire me) is selling the current residence. I am going to plan on carrying my current mortgage for a while, although I hope I don't have to (so all of that has to be in the new budget).

Phone interview tomorrow!

Well, that went well!

They're hauling my butt out there for interview number 2! I'll post up when I get the details, see if a few of us can hook up for cervesa!

Official Bloomington visit date is Feb 11th. I'm going to try to drive out on the evening of the 8th and see the 'sights' over the weekend before the interview Monday.

So, it would be best for me if I could meet up with you guys either Saturday night or Sunday night someplace. So I can drive home monday after the interview.

You guys work out the details.... I'm up for anything!

I won't be driving the cruiser though, so no wheeling in the wife's VW!

I won't tell if you won't!:D

I'll defer to the B-Town fella's for a place for eats &.

Benji, Tim..... Sound off, give us a time and place w/ address.

If it matters they're puting me up in place in the 'middle of town'. I think the lady said the hilton, or something similar....

OMG! Housing out there is cheaper than here! I didn't think that was possiable!

I don't know about Iowa but the property tax situation in Ind right now is a big mess. The good news is that there has been enough bitching that it got their attention in Indy and they are making some serious changes in our favor and hopefully a 1% cap. Now with the cuts, hopefully our kids won't be going to school in tents and being taught by felons.
Don't take it personal if any of you are felons;).

Anybody know a good realtor in the bloomington area?

Most of what I've seen that I liked was in Martinsville, Bedford, and Spencer...
