I’m seaching for a reputable shop that does mild build jobs, over landing gear and/or mechanic work on a 100 series.

I know there’s lots to pick from, just wondering if anyone has personal experience with one, or who to avoid.

Preferably in the San Diego area, but not limited to.

Thank you!

In San Diego (Miramar) SD Trux or The Truck Shop do good work and are well known amongst the Toyota crowd in town. The owner of SD Trux owns a 100 as well.

Ya SD Trux is the shop to go to in the San Diego area....If you want to go a bit North, YotaMasters in Corona is awesome.

I'm gonna have to give another recommendation in SD Trux in the San Diego area. They know their stuff. What I like most about them is how honest they are, they will tell you exactly what work needs to be done, how important it is and give you a fair price.

I’ve heard good things about sdtrux as well but never been there myself. Also heard they just do standard stuff no mods or fabrication. Others can chime in to verify.

The truck shop I’ve been to when I had a Tacoma. Bought my wheels there and it took a long time to put on. I was stoked when I got it back. When I got home 2 was later I notice the brake calipers were grinded down to accommodate the wheels wrong offset. Beware of them. Just my experience. My brother had fab work done there and had no problems and that’s why I went. Never been back and can’t recommend them.

anyone have a suggestion for up Ventura way?

Not sure the relation to the area but I know of Rpm garage in Monrovia? I follow them on Instagram. Lots of off-road rigs there. Owner seems to drive a 100 too.
There’s another toyota Indy shop in riverside but I can’t recall the name.

Watching.

Are you guys in Ventura/Oxnard. Don't usually see to many around here that aren't driven by elderly women lol I usually drive up and down Ventura Rd or Victoria. Only shops I know of locally is GoBigTrucks805 and Pro Shop Motorsports, I've seen each do Toyota's in general. Not necessarily any Land Cruiser stuff.

@hatchethead @gil12

I'm trying to cultivate a local Toy mechanic. Had him do some maintenance (e.g., timing belt, etc.) and it was a good experience for me. Was head mech at a Toy dealership before going out on his own. Drives a Sequoia. He's not an overlander or off-roader, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't do mods. His shop doesn't seem like the type. He's Shady at S&M Auto in Camarillo. Although i had a good experience, I'm still keeping my eyes and ears open for an ideal LC shop.

I like it! (Am I the only one that looks at a nice shopping mall cruiser and sees a future adoption "child" possibility?). BTW - I like that Hatchethead's mechanic's name is "Shady" - should have changed it when he left the dealer. :) I may try him next time. I'm interested in having someone put in my TJM front locker I bought a couple of years ago when they went on sale.

Off road Werkz also known as my mechanics, currently works on my LX470. It’s a Jeep shop but knows Toyota’s as well. He does custom fabrication as well. In Ventura!!!

I'm just happy there is some local guys lol And @LX470Beast I'm pretty sure I've seen you at Costco or driving around Ventura Rd, if that's your LX pictured in your avatar. Monster for sure.. we're BEAST lol

Off Road Werkz is currently working on my bumper as I was rear ended at 45 mph. Arb is being powder coated as we speak. Im getting ready to have the shop do my timing belt and related components, heater Ts, Hoses, starter, and alternator replaced.
