Thanks for the info. I had the km1's for quite a while and when I first put them on they where not much louder than the at's I had. Now that they are almost done they are pretty load, but the front are also chopped out on the outer lugs from not being rotated when my wife had the FJ for 6 months. I think I am going to go with the km2's cause I have not found another tire comparable in the 255/85/17 size I want. Do the goodyears or any others come in this size?

Steve do you keep any of the racks or rtt's in stock? I am thinking of trying to get my trailer set up for camping for the NM trip and go to the Grand Canyon while I am out that way. The only rtt I have been in is the arb one and curious about the mombasa's

Sure do. And what I don't have I can get quick, often just over a week. I'll shoot you a PM.

And don't forget I give a UC/TLCA discount on tents!

Went out Tuesday a good bit. From G'ville to Lakes north of Greer and back to Gvl then back up near Blue Ridge to Thornblade in the morning (seeing the kids to work). Then back and forth again in the evening.

The FJ on ice is just like anything, like skating with dull skates. I don't know anything that would have gone well on that ice. The Super-Swampers would have been fine on Monday I'm sure but I don't go out just to play.

Chains would have been ideal. I would have felt totally comfortable on chains. Does anyone know a source for good heavy duty chains for 34 x 10.50 tires? I haven't researched it and probably would think it too expensive and troublesome for the very occasional need here but they sure would have been great last Tuesday.

on your next trip up north or out west stop at a truck stop. I've been told that some truck stops carry chains in various sizes

Check out RUD chains at winchline.com. I looked into the same thing and lots of people seemed to like these chains. Remember on a FJC you are only supposed to put chains on the rear and not on the IFS.
