I know some of you have already ground a snap ring grove on your birf to add manual hubs but I have never seen any pictures.
I documented my experience and it was very simple..
I pulled the everything off until the hub. I pulled my hub studs for more clearance but found that it was not needed. I was able to cut the groove on the other side in about 15 min without pulling the hub studs.
I attached two hose clamps. One at 16 mm from the outside edge of the birfield and the other 13 mm from the outside edge. Measured several times and tightened the clamps.
Cut slowly and carefully with the thinnest blade for a 4 inch angle grinder I could find.
For my depth I just cut until the splines were not visible. This is a very easy reference for depth. Cut around half the circumference and the turn the shaft and cut the other side.
I then test fit the snap ring and hub
I hope this help you guys. If you are like me and you have had you front axle apart three times in the last year and don't need a complete tear down you can grind the groove without taking birf and shaft out.
