I bought a 2009 F350 6.4 diesel (I know I know I should have run the other way) BUT the truck was CLEAN. I bought this truck from a Ford dealership in Nebraska and when I got to California I discovered the emissions had been deleted (this is legal in Nebraska) problem is California is requiring a smog check to register in California. Since I can prove the vehicle was purchased in Nebraska can I get an exemption?

There is no legal way to delete a diesel unless you are the US government. It does not matter what states it’s from, deleting trucks is banned by the EPA. Your only option is to return it to stock, which is expensive.

Here’s what the EPA did the last couple of years and proof that it is not legal to remove emissions systems off of vehicles.

Just cuz I’m curious, are you planning on using this truck for any DOT purposes?
