I am going to run the Smiley Rock trail with the Expeditions West Tacoma and the 05 ARB Tacoma this weekend for an article in Off-Road.

Come along!

This is a 2.5 Rated Trail with sliders recommended, but not required.

There will be two meeting locations:

7:45 am- Cuppers Coffee Shop on Cortez in Downtown Prescott
9:00 am- 89a and the Potato Patch Campground Parking Lot (the one on the East side of the Road)
2:00 pm- Off the trail and eating cow in Jerome!

This is a short, fun trail in the forest with some good boulder sections, cambered climbs, etc. We will end the day with insane burgers at the Haunted Hamburger in Jerome!

DAMN IT!!!! I still don't have a power steering pump or I'd go along. Don (DRdoor) has been talking about this trail for awhile now and I'd love to tag along.

Thanks for the invite though. :)

Ooh, a local one. I should be able to make this one.

I just had a massive change of plans that freed up my saturday.
If you would welcome a blue FJ cruiser with tires/lift/winch&bumper I would really like to tag along.
Thanks for the offer and the detailed plan.

I was planning on hitting this one again. I would like to join as well. Lance call me and we can make the mini caravan thing again.

We're running it on the 21st as a meet for the Northern Arizona crew. All are welcome though.

Are you running it down to Jerome or up to Potato patch? I pre ran it down and back last weekend and encountered alot of opposing traffic on the "towards Jerome" direction and none on the return to PP.

I was thinking about bringing my new to me Troopie to the coffee shop Sat. morning. I'm not ready to make a run with the beast yet, only had it a week tomorrow and haven't had time to go over it completely yet. I have to get it to steer a bit better than it does and make sure all the four wheeling gizmos do there thing. If I do make it nobody make fun of the rust when I am done with this thing it won't have any. :-)

Plus I haven't sprung this on the wife yet. She is pretty awesome about stuff so I hope to see you all there. Has anyone saw any other Troopies in the Tri-city area?

I take it that means you don't want to run Upper Ajax on Saturday?

There's a big group from AZVJC going (14 vehicles currently) that's going to be running LWP, UWP, and then UA Saturday. I'd LOVE to go, but I'm screwed....the spare pump I bought (at $400:o ) is the wrong bolt pattern and I just sent my leaking one back and haven't received the exchange for the one with the wrong bolt pattern yet......and I'm guessing I won't get it in time for next weekend b/c companies just aren't honest with the customer anymore. Sorry, rant off. :)

The AZVJC group may split off into built rigs for the run due to the increased difficulty on UA.

I ran it back in January....the only part I saw as worse than the last time I ran it was this:

There is/was a bypass over the mountian to the passenger side in this pic....but it also bypasses the first waterfall. The run has 33's and 1 locker recommended, but I'm thinking an open diffed vehicle (even on one axle) is going to have a hard time getting a tire over that boulder on the passenger side. If you don't get there first, you may be in a LONG line.

HTH (and have a blast.....btw, I'm extremely jealous of all you fawkers with working 4x4s. )

Take care,
Sean

That's where Ratchet bent his drag link last Saturday. The hole is filled in quite a bit right there but it changes weekly.

I should be able to find the coffee spot tomorrow morning and meet the group there.

Nicole and I had to leave a little early since we have prior dinner plans and didn't except the run to take as long as it did - so we left the group at The Asylum.

We definately had a ton of fun, and thanks to the excellent spotting on hairy obstacles, I couldn't find a scratch (besides AZ pin striping) on the LX.

Thanks guys!
