Slow uploading (that encourages double-posting) (1 Viewer)

Hi Woody.

Recently (that is, maybe a week ago, or perhaps two weeks ago) I experienced a change in the screen prompts for "attaching a file" whereapon I now see a "black box (with another box inside saying "Choose File" and alongside that "No file chosen"). ... So it appears to me that you made some changes around this time.

About this time I also started finding that "posting replies", and even just "making edits to previous replies" had all become "SLOW/RELUCTANT TO UPLOAD".

In fact, they often run so slowly for me that when I hit the final button that's supposed to display my input for all the world to see ..... nothing appears to be happening.. (I get a visual display of "pulsing bars" to show me that "the system" is working on my request/command but then that display times-out/disappears without taking me on to the finished/loaded screen. (So I'm left stuck on the "composing screen" .... leading me to believe that the button has failed.)

So of course this leads me to think, maybe "I missed the button?" ... so I click it again.... but with the same result... Then if I hit the F5 key (to refresh the screen) .. Low and behold I often find I've placed two identical posts (that had loaded while I was led to believe nothing was happening).

I don't think I'm alone in having this problem because @sterling double posted in this thread today (https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/finally-done-5yr-79fj40-gozzard-parts-build.872848/#post-9867589) and I believe I am correctly concluding that he's having the same (or similar) difficulties.

Hmmmm.

I edited the above post to add the PS note at the end ... and ....while it was slow to upload... it did do it.

So then I went to edit this stuff I'm writing now into it and it flatly refused to co-operate. So hence I went to this separate post.

We DID have to change the file upload process...it was Flash based and some browsers are blocking flash entirely...rather than answer 100 questions, it was easier to disable globally...looking for a replacement solution

Started addressing the double post issue earlier this eve...

I know you are working on this issue, but just as a casual observer, there are a number of threads across the site with double posts and several I noticed with triple posts.

It may be too early to say it's really fixed ... but hell it's certainly working damned well for me when posting and editing posts right now!!!

Restarted the custom search program...it will bog down over time and cause the issue...we thought enough memory was added to solve it, but obviously it still needs a monthly restart.

Either that, or throw more $$$ at it...lol

tweaked some yesterday, again last night, again this morning, and yet again just a bit ago..."believe" the adjustments and software changes/upgrades are going to correct problems, but time will tell...

It's been working well for me ever since I started this thread anyway.
