This is the situation...87 FJ60, 128,000 miles. I have new Bridgestone tires properly balanced and an alignment completed 1 month ago. I had a complete chassis lube (except wheel bearings were not repacked). Now I have a slight vibration that kicks in at 45 mph and it is not coming through the steering wheel. It is an all-over kind of vibe. Not awful but noticeable.

It somooths out a bit over 65MPH. I disconnected the A/C compressor while I await delivery of a new one. The belt is still on but I pulled the plug. It idles fine (a little lumpy) and just passed emissions inspection with flying colors.

Do you think it is a driveline balancing issue or a chassis issue?

Try swapping your rear wheels to the front - if you can then feel a vibration in the steering wheel, your now front wheels are out of balance.

I would take this to a shop that has the ability to balance the wheels and tires on the truck. If this is done and the problem persists, I would go after the driveline and get it checked and balanced.

In addition to the above, it's possible that the slip yoke was overfilled with grease. Don't know if this would cause vibration, but it seems like it could, and it's easy to do, and is bad on the slip yoke.
