Hello all,
I've been following the forum for sometime, and just purchased my first LC last friday. It's a 2008 with about 75,000 miles on it. I have a couple of questions I have not been able to find the answer to and I'm hoping some of you kind folks might be able to help me out.
1. The LC seems to be in great shape overall. When driving it home yesterday (about 500 miles), I noticed what I would describe as a rattle or flutter when accelerating. It seems to be coming from the vicinity of the air vent to the left of the steering wheel or maybe even the door jamb. It does not seem to be fan related - I can hear it regardless of whether the fan is on and regardless of whether the vent is open or closed. It is somewhat plasticy sounding (as opposed to sounding like metal pieces rattling together) and is louder the faster the acceleration. When not accelerating it goes away. Also, the sound is definitely coming from that distinct area to the left of the steering wheel, but I can't find anything obviously loose. It does not seem to be coming from the engine itself or impact engine performance. Any ideas?
2. Unfortunately, it looks like the previous owners did not notice the driveshaft clunk. I know that this is a known issue and relatively easily fixed, but I'm wondering whether anyone knows whether it needs to be fixed. I'd like to get it fixed eventually, but from what I can tell from other threads, it is probably a $600-ish fix and I'd prefer not to sink that much money just a few days after buying it.
Any and all thoughts are most appreciated!
