I performed a search on this topic, but I couldn't find anything that matched directly (I guess 'cause these trucks are generally so problem-free).....
Anyway, lately I have been experiencing what seems to be a very slight miss or surge as I'm driving. In the last 45,000 miles of owning this truck, it's been virtually maintenance-free and rock-solid reliable, so I thought it might have been my imagination. However, it's happened enough lately that I believe there's an "issue."
The best way to describe it is that it's sort of like driving on a day that has more wind than normal. As the wind blows, it can come at you in smaller or larger gusts, and though it doesn't slow you or change the tach reading, you can still feel it. I don't seem to be able to feel it at slower speeds, but at anything over 40 or so, I kind of feel a surge or a miss.
To give you a base-line, my truck is a '99 LX with 124,000 miles. The major items have been addressed (timing belt/water pump replaced, starter replaced, Iridium plugs replaced, etc.). I've gone over the possibilities in my mind, but short of a bad coil, bad sensor of some type, etc., I'm not coming up with much. (By the way, the check engine light has not come on at any time, so I'm wondering if any codes would have been stored)
This has not yet become a problem with driving the truck, but I'm concerned that, if left unattended, it might become one.......again, a search of these forums didn't turn up anything, so if anyone has a thought on where I might start, please let me know. Thanks.
