Mate,

Have a read of Folkert's thread - the BJ44 is similar to the LX models and I'm sure that removing the glass is the same process.

You have to remove the frame from the top. It's held in with similar adhesive/tar which holds windscreens in. Once the frame is out you simply pop the glass out. Sadly, Toyota no longer makes the channel.

But word has it that channels from a later model van (hilux here in Japan) is the same stock and just needs to be cut down.

Chamba,

I helped Folkert out with a supply of the weather stripping from a local supplier here in Adelaide.

Sing out if you ever need to do your LX.

Fitch the rubber man - google it, look for twin flocking.

I have done this job on my 84 fj40 swb. The sluding windows are the same on the troopie.
I couldn't find the baley channels oem but there is an 11mm double baley channel available by the metre.

You not need to remove the frame!

All you do is take off the window handles from the way and remove the old channels by flat screwdriver. Once this is done the glass will lift out easy.

You need thorougly clean both the frame and the channel. I have attached my measurements so cut the baley accordingly and make 10 incisions at the back of the channel for the curves to sit flush.

Start from 9'o clock counter clockwise and when the bottom is in put in the glasses. Use soapy water to get the new baley slide easy and slide over the glasses into the frame on top.

The joining point is at 12'o clock. By sliding the window you gain inch by inch to jam the baley to position.
Once all in place slide the glass panels to centre and use rubber glue in corners only so the channel will fix and stay in place. Reinstall the handles and have a beer!
