OK, pondering the Slee Transfer Skid Plate vs the Belly Plate. Obviously, the belly plate provides a wider swath of coverage, but the skid plate is waaaay more palatable, price wise.

Beyond just the wider coverage, what else is the Belly Plate protecting that would make me want to spring for the extra $200? Is the fact that the belly plate replaces the factory cross member a big enough deal?

I'm not a crazy boulder field off-roader. Mostly just like wheeling to remote camp sites with my kiddos. I'll be installing Slee Stepsliders shortly, and was thinking of the skid plate at the same time.

The belly plate definitely covers more area and may protect the rear prop shaft a bit more, but if you are like me and you typically off-road in areas where you do not have rocks rolling around under you as your progress up the trail, the skid may be just what you need.

That said, I have been on trails here in So. Idaho where rocks became loose as I traversed up the trail and have had them roll up under my truck, hitting stuff along the way. It didn't harm anything, but man did it make a bunch of racket and I would have felt much better having the protection of the belly plate in that scenario!

Good luck with the purchase regardless of what you pick!
