Hi Guys,

Im toying with the idea of adding spacers to my ride at the same time as I change its shoes to 285/75/16 BFG KO2s in few weeks time.

As much as I understand the positive side of adding spacers, my main concern is what are the flaws/drawbacks/cons of adding them to stock hundy? i.e does it speed-up wear and tear of the components etc. will any existing component fail immediatley? Should i do it? or keep away from it?

Hope I can get good advice from experince mudders...

I think you might have to hammer back a pinch weld with that kind of scrub radius increase/tire size. I almost put on spacers to get my tires closer to the fender, but instead went with 295's and they look gooooooooood =)

I added the slee/spidertrax spacers and nothing broke. I have yet to add the 315s which were the reason though, so the earth could open up and swallow my truck at that point.. Or so you'd think if you read some of the comments on spacers.
As near as I can tell, expect everything to wear a little faster (ball joints, bearings, steering racks, etc), but nothing should break immediately.

So far so good for me (had them on for about 2 months I think, city highway, and extremely light off road travel). No carnage yet, and a more solid feel on corners. That could be just the new factor though.

I've had them on mine since March, and haven't had any issues with the suspension. For on-road driving, I really don't expect noticeable increased wear. Really, it is up to you whether or not the risk is worth the reward.

Thanks guys...

@TwiceWithHair: Interesting, what tire size did you end up with? Is it stock? Post a pic?

@jcrandall: agree on the comments online, the sort of comments that i've come across on the issue are also swaying me away from the intent. What tire size have you got on? does it sit flush to the wheel arch? stock? pic?

@Ermagerd: Intention is to achieve the desired looks, but worried about huge suspension bills hence still undecided. tire size? stock? post a pic?

heart Vs mind game... trying to convince the mind to listen to the heart on this one... hhhelp! :)

You may make more contact with front fender with wide tires (e.g., 295+, less of an issue with 285) [this is in the front only, I haven't had any issues in the rear]

...for what it's worth, i took mine off in the front and I'm only running the ones in the rear. Front ones are sitting on the shelf.

Reduction in scrub radius is a myth. It is minimal and nothing to worry about. Have had mine for 2 years and no issues.

Hey guys, i'm in the same boat...thinking about purchasing these.

I've heard that you get a better balance with hub centric spacers. Is that true?

Well, if you're sticking your wheel 2" further outward with a spacer - you've essentially increased the leverage on everything. Wheel bearings would likely be the first thing getting more stress. More width than what the steering components are designed to handle. Steering radius will slightly increase with the wider track width. Scrub radius will change.
--All this is pretty much ok on such an overbuilt vehicle and you likely won't even notice. What you will notice is some facial muscle soreness from smiling more when you look at your rig. It's not like we are prerunning Hundy's and stressing everything with jolts at high speed.

^this.
I didn't notice anything except a subtly better look.

No reason for an alignment either? I just did one less than 2,000 miles ago for my lift.

Changing from 285/75-16's to 295/75-16's and i figure the spacers will make the change even more dramatic.

It mitigates shifting and (supposedly) vibrations at higher speeds.

Thanks. Does anyone have direct comparison with and without the spacers for vibrations? I know the looks are going to be way better.

Yes, the ride is exactly the same.

I have a set being shipped to me as I type this.

Just got them in. I went with the 1.25" spacers.
