Hey folks - stuck at DFW waiting on a delayed flight. I flew out of SFO last week and drove down for the flight. I did not bring the Monkey Wagon. How are things looking for a nighttime arrival today coming up I5??

It's nasty out. Yesterday I5 was a mess on the summit. Two roll overs and 2-4" snow on the freeway. Its pouring rain in the valley and snowing up there. High winds as well. They are saying 20min delays.

Be safe!

So far they haven't closed the pass though. Chains/4wd have been required since yesterday morning.

Recovery packer is in the S4. New chains on board as well. Guess I better get the game face on and spool em up!

Driving at night SUX though.

Drive safe. This storm isn't passing soon. As of this morning:

"Full chain requirement at the Siskiyou summit for all vehicles, except those 4X4s not towing...
I-5, MP 0-11: Blizzard conditions on ‪#‎SiskiyouSummit‬ this morning, with reduced visibility and quickly accumulating snowfall. The pass is under a full chainrequirement, except 4x4s that aren't towing. Drivers are reminded not to stop in the lane of travel to install chains.

Expect lengthy delays, especially southbound between MP 11-19. Consider delaying travel if you are used to driving in severe winter conditions. UseTripCheck.com or call 511 for updated weather and road conditions. Check here if you have questions about chain requirements: TripCheck - Oregon Traveler Information"

Update:
TRAVEL ALERT!

I 5 IN THE MT. SHASTA AREA REQUIRING CHAINS

Just got word from Cal Trans, they are requiring chains on single axle vehicles towing trailers from 3 miles south of Dunsmuir to South Weed.

It is snowing heavily on this section of I 5. Packed snow is reported and traffic has really slowed, especially northbound.

On the ground. Starting driving within the hour. This is my first rodeo in this car so I am hopeful it is at least as good as my 85 Quattro was!

God speed! get home safe :)
