I have an 04 UZJ100 and would like to add Sirius Sat. Radio to it. According to the Sirius Web site the 04 LC had that as an option. I would like to add it to the factory system ie. I do not want some stand alone unit. The truck has all of the options navigation even that back-up camera. Any ideas on how this could be done. My local Toyota dealer has not been very helpful b/c they only sell 1 LC a year if that.
Thanks

As I understand it from cruiserdan, you need a 2005 or later headunit to integrate with OEM stereo. Sounds like you have a 2004 so you would need to change your headunit to do that (and this is expensive according to cruiserdan although I didn't get an exact amount).

Another option is to get a AUX port adapter that connects to the AUX port that your CD/DVD changer uses and creates additional AUX ports that your Sirius and/or iPod can use. I looked into this for a bit but looked like it would require professional installation so I didn't fully price it out.

The last option is the option you didn't like, which is "some stand alone unit". I ended up with this option for simple, inexpensive installation. I bought a Starmate Replay and have it in the sunglass holder in my LC. Not the best, but works pretty well for me.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure about years and or compatibility issues with head units, but on my 2005 the unit was "XM ready". Great I thought, that'll be nice and easy when I add it to my XM Account. :)

Oh to the contrary. When I went to add it to my account, I needed to have the "XM Tuner" installed. Hmmmmmm, "but I thought it was XM ready"

It turns out the head unit may be good to go but it also needs a tuner, an additional component.

The tuner will run you around $400 installed at the dealer with the tuner itself costing almost $300.

Hope that helps!

I put in an XM tuner called a "Roadie2" a couple of months ago and am very happy with it. Only cost $49.95. https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=60277&highlight=radio+installation

You may argue whether or not sending the signal from the sat radio to your stereo is really an "integrated" solution, but it works fairly well.

Given no aux in port on the Nakamichi, my only alternatives were running cable from the sat radio out to the tape player with an adaptor or getting a new stereo. I chose to give up some fidelity in order to get a clean install.

to bring a topic back from the dead....

the new LX does not offer sirius as a factory option any longer, according to the lex site. my lex dealer told me they couldn't do it and to call best buy. best buy told me they couldn't integrate sirius through the factory nav and that i'd need to use an FM modulator. seemed wrong to me so i called pat at manhattan beach toyota to ask if the toyo dealer could do it (as sirius is listed as an option on the 07 LC). he referred me to a guy in huntington beach that assured me that it most certainly could be done.

i was quoted 549 installed to have sirius running natively through the nav. seemed a reasonable price.

don't know how many people really care about this, but wanted to post that the new LX can indeed run sirius through the nav despite it no longer being offered by lex.

I am having one of these units from http://www.vaistech.com/ installed this weekend for my iPod integration, but they also have them for XM and Sirius as well. Not the cheapest solution but looks like it will be a smooth integration.

sounds like pretty much the same thing that the guys at airstream were talking about. i'll have to see if they can work ipod integration into the mix while they're putting in the sirius.

When I was shopping for my LX a year ago, I saw new 06's with both XM and Sirius. In fact, one dealership switched from one to the other while i was shopping.

It almost seemed like the dealerships were making direct deals with XM and Sirius.

apparently for 07 that changed. there is no longer an option between the two at the dealership. lexus is in bed with XM now.

had the guys at airstream down in huntington beach install the sirius unit. works perfect. i'm pleased.

IF your 'factory' Nav-Radio system is "bluetooth" compatable, then you can install a sirius sat radio that operates from the Nav-Radio touch screen.

You can buy the parts (tuner and 'fit kit') from Toyota or Lexus.

To check for bluetooh compat: can you have your rig (Nav-Radio) system place a phone call through your cell phone without the cell phone being 'wired' to anything ?

I think, somewhere in 2004 , 2005 timeframe is when Toyota (Lexus) put in the upgraded Nav-Radio system.

p.s. I intalled a sirrus in wifes GX470 ( damned fancy toyota ! ): sweet !

Let me know how that works, it looks pretty slick.

Interesting that the Sirius unit allows for 16 characters for name and title. My factory Sirius unit in my 06 LC only has 8 or 10 characters, I believe, and is kind of irritating. If true, this unit may be better than the factory unit. I guess you need a sirius tuner too?
