I recently picked up a 2001 LC 100 series with no carfax or record that I can find that the timing belt was replaced (even called Toyota). Other than wrench marks, decals or whatever how could I tell if the belt has been replaced?
I have no problem diving in and replacing it. But since this is my first 100 series I would like to know if there is anything else I should be looking at.

it pretty easy to take the belt cover off on the passenger side and inspect the belt, I think it was like 4 bolts and I didnt even remove all of them by the time I had 3 off I was able to flex the cover far enough to get a good look at the belt.

If done at dealer it should have a sticker on a belt cover with the date and miles. Tool marks could be for other work. The belt itself may look great even being over-mileage. I would simply assume it has not been replaced and go for it. Good threads in the FAQs on parts and procedures.
