Should I go with OEM shocks or can I get away with aftermarket? And how much should I expect to spend? THanks

Are you stock height? If so then Yes OEM

If not stock then OME Or Doetsch Tech 8000

ome

You can get away with OME on stock height on a FJ60 if you are anticipating a OME lift later in life. At least it is working for me.

what about pro-comp's ES9000 some one on board running them?
but as 89's rule says it depends on the height of your truck

so should I go (or can I get away) with something else if I see myself getting a lift done in the future?

So you must be stock now.

From what I can tell you can go with OME. Main issue is the shock bottoming out. But if cost is an issue OEM are a good deal. Then buy what you need when you get your lift, eswpecially since most people just buy a kit and shocks are included.

Doetsch Tech can be purchased through Summit Racing. These are what I am going to run as I have heard they are better than the Rancho's and othe rbrands that people say stay away from. (Some peopel do swear by Rancho as well)

As far as Doetsch Tech go I havent heard much about the 3000 as stated above. The 8000 pre-runner are what I am going to run. See sig for specs on my rig.

OEM if riding stock. You could always sell them if you only used them like a year or so and then got a lift kit.
