i have a feeling the shocks on my truck are the original OEMs [thick and orange colored] and they are beyond shot. in fact, they're almost scary at times. i don't currently have the budget for the full dakkar lift, but would like to do something about the shocks in the meantime. a couple questions:

- are the OME shocks the best option going these days? are they worth $75?

- would getting the proper length shock for a 2" dakkar lift work ok on my stock setup until that day comes?

- i'll be in LA at the end of september and was curious if there was a shop down there that could take care of the shocks for me. i'll be visiting in San Dimas.

thanks guys.

from what i have heard it is best to wait and do shocks after the springs. Especially if you are buying the dakar kit, which comes with shocks. You will probably save $ by buying it all at once.

When I put on my alcans I am going to go with the doesctec I knwo thats not spelled right but they are about $35 from summit the 8000 series. But that is mainly b/c there are not alot of choices when you go to the 4" lift.

very worth it to get the OME shocks, especially if you are going to get the dakar springs. It depends on whether or not (read how badly) your springs are sagging. If they arent really sagging, the OME shocks should be OK till you get the dakars. Man A Fre is in Simi Valley, but TLC is in Van Nuys and those guys are way nicer. It isn't very hard to do the shocks yourself- maybe an hour tops with a socket set and some PB parts blaster to loosen the bolts. heck you don't even need a jack. Otherwise TLC's number is 818 785-2200, they'll give you a tour too if you ask, it's a good chance to see the most beautiful (and expensive) cruisers around.

on every single one of my Cruisers I have done shocks(OME) before springs, well worth it. OME shocks with work with stock or OME springs(lift)

red is not OEM, black or blue are OEM.,

being that the shocks are terribly shot, i'm going to go with landpimp's experience and just do it.

i'm sort of tired of the E ticket rollercoaster ride around corners.

thanks guys.
