i have been doing abit of research into diffrent brands of shocks, and i was woundering if anyone can tell me what "EFS" suspention is like? and how dose it compare to "RANCHO","KONI" or "OME"? The RANCHO IN-CAB System was what caught my eye, Doing about 70% onroad and 30% offroad the adjustability seemed a good idea. i hope the experiances of others will help me to avoid messing up the 4inch lift a have planned (dont ask why 4' but the 2inch i got already still dosnt look right.) Thanks.
The EFS shocks are OK but I would stick with OME L shocks to match the 4" lift if you have a relatively light 80 or a set of Dobinsons or Tough Dogs if your rig has a few heavier acessories. Bilsteins are also a good choice for good on road handling though I don't have any experience with the Bilsteins off road. Not a real fan of the Ranchos, haven't heard many good reports lately. If you want adjustables the Tough Dogs are available in a heavy duty adjustable shock that IIRC can be adapted to the Rancho in-cab kit. My experience with the "rebuildable" Koni shocks is they cost about the same to rebuild as buying another shock. Not sure if the Konis are available in a length suitable for a 4" lift.
"Adjustable" catches your eye because you really think that you might adjust it now and then. I have dealt with desert race cars, trucks and a variety of 4x4's. Many had adjustable elements in the suspension. We always found a single adjustment that compromised well for all uses and never changed it again. In reality you will seldom if ever change the settings. If the adjustable capability costs more than a small amount, skip it! Just listen to others who use trucks the way you do and go with what they use.
