When I got my '91 22RE 4wd reg cab p/u 5 years ago(with 140K miles), it needed new shocks. First I got procomp 3000's all around, they were fine in back but bottomed out to easily in the front. Tried Rancho 5000's in the front, still lame(and with an unnecessarily harsh ride). Then tried Bilsteins in front...definitely better, I stopped experimenting at that point. 5 years later, they're still fine. The torsion bars seemed to need a stiffer shock, I guess because the T-bar suspension has inherently less "self-damping" than leaf springs. I like it better when the same type of suspension is used both front and rear, but that's becoming less common. It would have been nice if they had made the T-bar IFS match the rear leaves a little better, IMO.
