Was curious on the boards recommendations for front shocks. Here's my info:

About to install Slee's Blueberry bumper and OME torsion bars (looking for about 1.5"-2" raise in front).
My offroading is light, mostly an asphalt barbarian.

I've found the OME Nitrocharger Sport Shock Absorber Light-Medium N100/6000 for about $100 ea. Staying in this price range, is this the best shock out there for my application?

i am ok with OME so far

OEM if you are going to be a asphalt queen. Why even bother with anything aftermarket?

Perhaps consider waiting till Slee offers a more asphalt friendly aluminum bumper.

IDK. for an asphalt queen, a full on TC UCA/King setup might be in order.

Any particular model number on the Bilstein's?

Just go shockwarehouse.com or similar and just plug in your year and land cruiser. They are just oem direct replacements.

$67.95 for Bilstein HD's from EShock.com. Firm but smooth ride with no lean on cornering or nosedive braking.

I have been very happy with KYB on my other cars and will install them on my 98 TLC. If its going to be mostly a road warrior I think you will happier with "Stock type" shocks. Bilsteins are also very good

I just replaced with OEM shocks on our '03 LC. It is my wife's DD, and stays around town mostly. It has about 90k miles on it. The new OEM shocks are better, but not what I am really after. Will probably do a full 1.5" Medium OME kit. While it is a totally different setup, the LC stock suspension is just too soft relative to the AHC in my '03 LX.

I went with Bilsteins all the way around last summer and could not be happier. They are firm, but the ride is still quite nice. The :princess: hasn't complained, so that says something. Skol.

After lots of reading I decided I did not want OME shocks... I also was not ready for the ultra expensive high end shocks (Fox, King, etc) but wanted something with more travel than the Bilsteins available in the US... I ended up ordering Ironman nitro gas shocks and am very happy with the results so far. I picked mine up for about the same price as bilsteins... Very well made and my ride feels much better now... I did add OME 865 coils and cranked up factory tbars at the same time as well... You can check them out here:

Anything to update as i am shopping for shocks currently

I have the OME shocks for a 2 inch lift on my 1999 100 series and they have been fine (probably 4K miles on them, mostly on-road). I am pulling them off this next week to install 2.5 RadFlo's just because they are so darn pretty and I feel the need to stimulate the economy. I will post up in a couple of weeks if I notice any dramatic difference. The OME still have plenty of life left and I will post them on classified next week in case anybody wants them.

I just installed the Ironman Nitro Gas shocks this weekend and the ride is great. For firmer heavy loads they offer the foam cell shocks.
