Shock Absorber Cup Washers

Are the cup washers required for Old Man Emu shocks? The package didn't come with them and I'm not sure if they are necessary. If they are necessary, where can you locate just the washers? Thanks in advance for your help.

Shock washers still available from Toyota. part numbers I have for my 1980 FJ40 are 90948-03003 inner and 90948-03004 outer. About 1.25 each. I have the OME suspension installed.

I have the OME suspension in my 77 FJ40. You need the cup washers. I removed my shocks to replace the bushings and found one was missing. I just ordered some yesterday from the Toyota dealership.

Interesting to note the low side of the cup goes towards the shock, not the other way around. It seems counter intuitive to not have the cup 'cup' the bush but that's the way they're designed.
