Shift Lever Knob

Another one of these dramatics issue we have on our LC

The leather on the knob is worn and have know a hole.
I never did that before but i feel confident I could make a new leather skin, but who knows...

I wonder if some of you already did something and here my question:

1- is the knob is nice enough and is useable if the leather is removed?

3- do you know a place where I could buy one (used or aftermarket)?

Or just remove the leather. That's what I did on my 80. Should be black rubber under there and it doesn't look bad at all.
