Posting here because I'd like perspective on this.

So here is what my brand new BP-51 coil-over looks like...after the shop took a do-over after incorrectly leaving the pre-tension on the wrong depth on initial install.

So I take it back...they make the adjustment...but apparently WITH A HAMMER(????)...possibly stripping the lock screw...and turning the adjustment hole reamed out/misshapen, and who knows what other damage can't see:

Ride better than before, but still harsh as they left it at 12mm instead of 5mm...not sure I'll ever be able to adjust these things again after they apparently whacked the living you-know-what out of them.

Ugh... What to do now??

More details here if you are interested...

That really sucks - sorry you had that experience.

Looks like they just forced the adjustment ring without loosening the set screw at all (maybe because they buggered up the set screw? Kinda looks like the head is all rounded out). Who knows what that did to the threads on the shock body

If it were me, I'd be talking to them about a new set ...

I hate that that happened. It is totally unacceptable. Are both sides like this? Either they put a new guy on this or they were being lazy (I.e not taking the pressure off that ring by compressing the spring) I'd also demand some type of compensation.
Good luck!

UPDATE:

To make matters even more frustrating...

The whole reason they had to re-do it was because there was WAY too much tension at 20mm.

The purpose of the re-do was simple:
-They were to drop it from 20mm to 5mm.

So after all their butchering and pounding?
Guess what they left it at???

12mm!!

12mm is MORE TENSION than you'd use even with a heavy bumper & winch!

So they left it at more than DOUBLE the agreed-to 5mm.

Reeeeeally frustrated. :bang:

UPDATE:

Just realized that they did not put the front mud-shields back on in the wheel-well (that shield the wiring and rubber tubing near the engine bay front). And...likely threw them away (!!!!).

**The manager (who I think is a genuinely good guy) has now instructed NO ONE to touch my LC except the foreman...and it's sounding like the clown who did this may be in deep doo-doo...

They are now going to order replacement rings...replacement shields..but in the mean-time will reinstall for proper preload. Then when parts arrive (if they are even available), they'll do it AGAIN.

So... That will mean FOUR INSTALLS to get it done... Bummer for them. Feel badly about it because it's wasting their time along with mine.

Slee is 15 hours and 1070 miles away... Hmmm...

I'm glad to hear that they are making it right. Yes, it is a bummer for them, but then again it IS their fault. Bummer for you to have to deal with the heartaches and headaches surrounding it.

Man, you're a nice guy ;)...... I'd be all over those fools. Incompetence with a side of repeat incompetence tastes very bad indeed. Sure would like to know The name of the shop so that they can be rightly boycotted and /or tarred and feathered here on Mud. I feel for you man, may the force be with you.

It's true that I haven't blown my top at them...
But I'm not happy and have made that EXTREMELY clear to them...

What's weird is...the same shop did very nice work when I built my 100 series...and I'm not dying to pay another shop all over again.
I suspect it was the handiwork of one tech. They are super busy and some idiot took shortcuts at my expense.

I'm not sure it would help to yell and curse them out, or tar and feather them here...
In a restaurant?? -That's a good way to get a nose-full of snot blown into your hamburger before they bring it to you...
