Hi all. I am new to this site but a long time LX470 owner. I had an interesting problem with shaking recently that I hope someone can help me with. At any speed, but usually crusing at 30-50 mph, my 2001 LX470 (stock, no modifications) would start to shake. I felt it in the seat and floor, not in the transmission, engine or steering wheel. Once it started, it would only stop when I stopped. Once I started again it was gone (until the next time it happened). The shaking would get faster or slower depending on the wheel speed. This happened about 6 times over a three week period.

Had the wheels balanced, did not solve the problem. I took it to the dealer and they said it could be the load leveling system may not be working properly. After checking it, they said it was fine, but could not reproduce the shaking. Now that I have it back from them, the shaking seems to be gone but I haven't driven it much. I also notice that the truck sits higer in the rear than when I took it to them.

Could the shaking have been due to inproper angle of the rear drive shaft? What else could this be? Anyone ever experience it?

Since no one has replied, I must assume that this is not a big problem. I have not experienced the shaking since the load leveling system was adjusted. I just can't believe that a few inches in height would make the drive shaft that unstable. I would still be interested if anyone has experienced this problem. Thanks.

Check the emergency brake shoes and arm

I had a similar problem and the emergency brake arm was frozen. I would be on the highway and the entire truck would start to shake. I would not feel it in the steering wheel. The emergency brake shoe on the driver's side was dragging a little and would grab causing the shake.

If it was a violent shaking, that's more indicative of a bad u-joint; angles wouldn't improve that.

If it was more of a vibration humm, a few inches *could* make a difference.

How many miles on your LX?

Had that. Was parking brake stuck on driver's side wheel.

Similar to above poster's experience.

Had released the parking brake handle and figured the brake was off as it should be. Had driven approx 3 or 4 miles. Drum must have heated up enough to go out of round and produced the shaking.

Had to crawl under to peek. Wifey pulled and released the ebrake in the cabin a few times so I could watch which side was the culprit. A couple of taps on the lever to pop it back, and we made it home from vacation.

Indy dealer replaced the bell crank arms and did the ebrake pads while he was at it (both sides).

TLC doesn't have Height Control, so the crank shaft angle duggestion probably doesn't apply to me. But it makes sense.
