coming outta the store today, and admiring my faded red 60, i couldnt help but notice the "old lady" ass sag in the rear.
three years ago i replaced the springs with OEM's, but i still have the rear sag.
i see "extended" shackles at SOR, CCOT, and other places. is it just a matter of replacing the rear back shackle with , say, the 1-1/2" extrended for a little lift?
or is there more to it than that?

Nope- Well, you might need new pins/bushings/bolts too...

Or, the expensive route would be to purchase OME lift springs and run a shorter shackle... Not sure how the shorter shackle would effect articulation, if at all.

Personally, I'd check the condition of the shackle neoprene bushes, else I'd simply get them reset by a blacksmith, a little bit higher than level. I reckon that it looks good a little bit higher at the back, will take a bit more load, and will have a bit of room to settle in the future.

new bushings with the springs three years ago. .
do you mean set the forward rear brackets back toward the rear? isnt it just easier to use the extended shackles? i, for one, would not trust anyone to weld them both at the right place.
im more confused than ever.
do the extended shackles provide some lift without ANY other mods, besides new bolts/bushings/ect.?

I would get the springs reset. A good blacksmith would reset (re-arch) the springs so that they sit a bit higher. Then they scrag them (basically bend them back the other way) and check to make sure that it hasn't lost it's arch. This is to make sure that they aren't going to lose their shape once you put them back on the car.

If you have the rear-end sag, shackles are not the right solution. You need something to help your springs. Cheapest is a long add-a-leaf. $50 for the AAD's, plus new ubolts. $75 max, plus a few dirty hours and no more sag.

There are more expensive options of course...
