yeah saw he has to work all weekend..

everyone please let me know if your status on first post is still valid so I have an idea who to expect in morning for convoy....and who to expect for dinner at my camp site Friday night. Thanks and see you tomorrow. :)

Okay we are on the count down.....4 days and a wakeup until Uwharrie.

I am still planning on leaving sometime before noon...hopefully 10am. If anyone wants to follow me be at the rental car parking lot at base of I526 at 10am...it used to be a golf shop and now is TRIANGLE RENTAL or something like that.

Weather is suppose to be 51*F for daily high and 31*F for daily low with clear skies.....it may be full up there so the earlier you arrive the better camping spot you can pick out.

Hope you can all make it.....

be there prob before ten, ready to roll!! got everything sealed up so im good to go at least for this trip.
see you in the morning!!

had some drop out for work, personal reasons, and an accident that took out their 80 series (everyone is fine)...here is who I know is following or coming today:

Brock (wife staying home, migraines)
Clayton
Excessive
Bryan89

If BBQBoy shows up that will be another but he wont know until later if he can drive up instead of work.

I am packed...going to top off fuel before I meet you....and then we will drive non-stop to outpost where we will fill up again. I am able to drive on one tank in both LX470 and did it in the FJ60 as well...but if you need to stop let me know.

Dark at 5 but 5 of us eating and drinking around fire.

Thanks for whipping up all the grub, see ya next time.

What a great weekend....about 22-26 Land Cruisers...hard to keep count....but a BUNCH!

We got into camp Friday without any issues...set up camp, topped off fuel, bought passes and firewood. We had ShermanFJ62, Bryan89 and Renee, Excessive and myself in area.....we stayed at the Group Camp while rest stayed at Barn. Logans truck was going to be parked at Group Camp and I was keeping eye on it for his father who was going to wheel it for the first time on Saturday :)

While fire was getting going....ShermanFJ62 brought out the axe (no alchohol involved) and he and Excessive splitted some wood....until after a few minutes the axe handle had big chunk taken out of the side....Ooooops. Not sure if it was Sherman when he split a log with handle earlier LOL or Excessive having some operator error....we all got a big laugh about the AMERICAN HICKORY.

Well I started dinner when we finally got some good coals in fire with a venison sloppy joe mixture being put together....started well and then near end while stirring I started noticing black things in the pot. At first I thought....wow, that fire is hotter than I thought if it is burning the sauce already....so kept stirring, added a little more water.

Put it in bowls...white bread....sloppy joes....cold beverages...it was good then crunch, crunch, crunch....I said...damn got a piece of burnt sloppy joe mix. Then someone else said they did too....but it felt different.
Next piece I crunched felt like pork rind...so pulled it out of mouth. It wasnt burnt food it was wood chips....those bastard wood chucks (Sherman and Excessive) had wood chips flying all over and they were gong in my dutch oven and getting burned on bottom. LMMFAO.....so we had quite tasty and digestible charcoal in our system now....good worming or poison prevention so is all good. LOL

Then I got out my LED Lantern while Bryan got out the propane lantern with no handle or lense guard....and we started talking about better models that are more durable for about 20 minutes...then CRASH! Excessive stands up to dump his plate and a gremlin tried to push the lantern on his leg and catch him on fire for his wood cutting debauchery but alas it fell harmlessly to the ground and broke that NOTED FRAGILE lense we just finished discussing...LMAO While he was going now to dump plate he tripped over his flashlight...twice.....so then I made the joke his name should not be EXCESSIVE but instead...."Mayhem" like the insurance commercial........"breaky, breaky!" We cracked up....but not before a couple more tripping incidents....we sat around and talked and consumed beverages and finally succumbed to the 31* weather and went to bed.
Saturday we awoke bright and early for an 8:30am meet time at Outpost...I cooked up some sausage and eggs for everyone to warm them up from the cold night....then we headed out and ran trails all day.....Dickie Bell, Dutch John, Rocky Mountain Loop, Daniel, etc.....no EASY trails were done all being MODERATE or DIFFICULT.
After a long day of wheeling we all met at Logans Parents property for a big dinner of shrimp, oysters, venison sausage, venison chili, Beafort Stew, cornbread, Rotel, dips, crackers, cured ham, cake, wings, etc.....and more shrimp and more oysters and more chili.......I think everyone at abotu 5 plates. We headed back to our campsite after getting some wood from the guy on side of road...honor system but wood was dryer and more of it for less money. Felt wierd taking wood and sliding money through crack cut in barn wall for the payment....but it worked for him and the wood was outstanding after the green stuff from Outpost night before.
Finally went to bed late and today we all headed back at various times.

Great to see Bryan and his girlfriend who bravely came out amongst us heathens...but know who she already puts up with we were boy scouts. LOL Good to see Excessive and Clayton... also saw the three Lowcountry guys (Dbenke, ScottJ and Scott Shelley)....and about 20 others from mostly ONSC...I saw a couple from UC...Marshall and Drew.

Great time by all...great wheeling...weather was perfect...dust was very low....no significant breakages...only one I heard of with any impact was ScottJ sheared off hub flange bolts and blew hub assembly on Kodak Rock but was drivabel, albeit, 3 wheel drive....and he trailered to Outpost anyhow.

Well....Uwharrie is closing in a week or two for the Winter...so until next time...thanks for your participation and support.

oh, and the fleece jackets were a hit...warm and everyone asked about them. Thanks Michael.

Hopefully the whole group can go up next time with BBQBoy, Lextech, CustomAV, RKing and others all coming out too.

There are a lot of pictures and video taken by Renee, Bryan and Clayton...so post it up here so everyone can check it out.

I'm still ticked I didn't make it. I certainly plan to go this spring.
Glad the jackets worked out and everyone liked them.Oh, and remind me to never let Clayton and William cook for me. AS a matter of fact you two guys can just help buy the oysters for the upcoming roast and we will steam them.

Thank You Swamp Fox!

Thanks to everyone. I can say that I had an absolute blast riding with you guys. All the different rigs and set ups had me drooling all day Saturday.

Everyone was very cool and exceptionally nice to me. Even more so than some of the Jeep events I have been to. I would love to ride along with all of you again, and wish I had a chance to camp out to enjoy the whole experience.

I spent most of my drive back to SC thinking of a way to talk my wife into a FJ as her next rig..... I mean car.

*** To whoever was filming me on the steep hill climb on Rocky Mount (I think just before Kodak Rock?) I'd love to get a link or even a few pics of me riding the trails. I don’t seem to get much when I go out, except for a few poser pics.

I'm posting this on each of the Groups who made it out, so sorry if there is any redundancy here. I just wanted it to make it to everyone I met Saturday.

Thanks Again!

I will post the photos and videos soon. It was a good time. Truck did really well on the trail. Everyone was very friendly. The cooler weather was nice. Cant wait to go back again. Would like to ride more trails but it was a busy place.

Excessive = Master of Destruction
Bryan=Virgin Run
Brock= Cook/ tail gunner
Renee= was a good sport and spotter for Bryan.

Comment of the weekend was when one of the NC guys said " Brock used to have a blue FJ60 like yours but your's looks like it is in much better shape."

Good to see Greenseaman ScottJ and Benkie on the trail, just dont know about Benkie's dog.

The WTF moment was someone at 8:30pm driving on a dark country road with a golf cart with no tail lights or reflector's
