im just affraid that these have been sitting so long that they are flat, or they are just such crappy tires that they wont balance or something.

then i would be up shiz creek cause i cant afford new ones right now.

hopefully it will all work out.

Thanks.

If the tires are old and have sat flat you could have internal seperation. I would have them check the tires out for safety as well as trying to balance them. Last thing you want is a blowout on an old truck going 65.

I'll be looking forward to seeing y'all on Fri. It's been a long time no see! It will be great to wheel with everyone! Can't wait! And for what it's worth, I'm the guy with the 4runner that couldn't make it up Daniel:) Bryan shouldn't have any problems. Hopefully I'll make it up Daniel this year with my 4:88s and rear detroit, as long as nothing breaks...:)

I'm not going. Too much cool stuff going on here.

well. i got my tires balanced as good as they are going to get with those crappy tires on there. much much better than it was, but i think there is room for improvement. either way, one issue down, onto the next.

thought the truck was good to go for camping, so i started getting it ready since i wont have much time during the week.
took off the soft top. and tried to put on the hard top. well, it farkin leaks again!! :bang:. i thought i solved this earlier!! (toyota no longer makes the cab gasket for my top so i had to source something different. thought i had it figured out, but its not working now)

i think what happened was when i put my soft top on, the bracket for the cab squished the seal too much, now it wont "unsquish" enough to be effective to seal the hard top to the cab.:bang:
so i got to figure something out quick cause its too cold for a soft top!!

Okay we are on the count down.....4 days and a wakeup until Uwharrie.

I am still planning on leaving sometime before noon...hopefully 10am. If anyone wants to follow me be at the rental car parking lot at base of I526 at 10am...it used to be a golf shop and now is TRIANGLE RENTAL or something like that.

Weather is suppose to be 51*F for daily high and 31*F for daily low with clear skies.....it may be full up there so the earlier you arrive the better camping spot you can pick out.

Hope you can all make it.....

I was planning on leaving Charleston around 8am on Friday morning. Last time I caravan-ed up with CaptnCrunch, took us just under 4 hours to get there. We still had plenty of time for a nice trail ride Friday evening.

Important Change of Camp

Just to let everyone know, Logan's dad Kenny Monk, has offered up the use of his family's property in which to camp, cook, and hangout. He has 26 acres of land, 2 of which are cleared for parking, camping and fixing broken stuff!. His barn will hold around 120 people and has a stove and facilities for cooking, and wood burning stoves.

We will be staying here instead of at Group camp for size constraints, since we will have around 30 trucks at this ride (if I counted all the clubs participants correctly).

From the outpost it is 2 miles towards Troy then right at Uwharrie store on River Rd, then exactly 7 miles to gate on left. Exactly 1.1 mile further is the BP at corner with Hwy 24-27.

For GPS/Mapquest purposes the BP station address is:
4560 NC HWY 24 27W
Mount Gilead, NC 27371

Saturday Morning

Meet at the Outpost at 8:30 and divide into groups. We'll depart in waves starting at 9:30, with around 6-8 in each group.

Easy (Wolfs Den) will park on the front gravel parking line closest to the pumps
Moderate (Dickey Bell) will park in front gravel parking line furthest from the pumps
Difficult (Daniel) will park on the rear gravel parking line close to the AIR pump

Saturday Night

Dinner will be a medley of potluck items, bring a little extra of whatever you make best in order to share. I will try to acquire a pig cooker in order to help facilitate some large scale cooking, but with tailgate season, it may be hard to get this late, so I would still plan like you were cooking at group camp. Definitely bring some regional beers if you want to swap...

Sorry it's so lengthy, Club presidents/trip leaders PM me for my cell phone and any questions you might have...

Brian

^ thats awesome! Thanks Kenny

You are more than welcome! Please make yourself at home and check the ONSC site for updates. Looking forward to meeting these MUD posters! I'm a noobie with an LC so any help will be appreciated!! Kenny

so,
is the caravan leaving charleston headed to Mr. Monk's property straight off? or are you going to the "front door" of the park so to speak first?

I will be taking whomever is following straight to Eldorado Outpost (BP Gas)where you can do the following:

-get something to eat
-go to bathroom
-buy supplies for camping (food, plates, drinks, etc)
-buy your trail pass for Saturday or however many days you are going to run trails
-fill up with gas so you dont have to fight the crowds on Saturday morning
-buy firewood if you did not bring some with you
-get trail map of area

then we will proceed to camping area....will likely have venison chili at my campsite for the local group Friday night if you want any. Saturday night is combined at main camp fire sponsored by ONSC. Breakfast and lunch are on your own....make it in camp or buy it at Outpost. Whatever you decide.

If you need or want to air down your tires I recommend doing it at camp Friday night so you wont have to rush Saturday morning. There is air at Outpost and I will have my CO2 tank with me until it runs out (not refilled all year :) )

Anything else I missed?
