Time for me to change (err, have changed) some fluids on an '04 Landcruiser

The dealer wants $180 for a transmission fluid flush (with Type-T fluid). Keeping in mind that this is above my DIY skill level, is this price a "reasonable rip off" or a "you just got raped rip off." Is Type T fluid what I want?

How much would you expect reasonably priced differential fluid flushes/changes to be?

Similarly, how much would you would you expect a reasonably priced transfer case flush to be (I think there's fluid to be flushed in their, of is this part of diffs)?

For the diffs, etc., is there any sort of fluid I should specify?

Thanks in advance!!

Tranny price sounds pretty good IMO, my LC mechanic was going to charge right in that neighborhood, a tad less.

The front and rear diff are both really easy, just two bolts, anybody could do it (Just make sure to remove fill bolt on top of diff case first). Havent changed t case but I believe it to be the same deal.

I dont know off the top of my head but around 04 is when many Toyota/Lexus went to WS tranny fluid from TIV. If yours takes T-IV then its much easier than WS. As for the diffs and transfer case the standard 75w90 bulk works fine. The dealer will most likely not stock anything else besides maybe synthetic.

I've done all these changes myself and just for the 7qts (I think) of Mobil 1 Synthetic 75w90 gear oil and the new crush gaskets you're looking at at least $80. Plus $7 for a pump. that might help you figure out how much extra you're paying to have someone else do it.

Same for ATF. I think it takes 12qts to change all the ATF, 14-16 if you drain the pan first. That much ATF would cost you half of what the dealer is charging. So $180 seems reasonable.
