Can anyone identify the replacement interval for the serpentine belt? My 2008 has 95k on it - I have no idea if the PO ever changed it but I doubt it.

How does the belt look? Any cracking on either side of the belt?

I think it is supposed to be changed every 100k miles.

Just do it with the tensioner and idler when you do the water pump every 100k. I wouldn’t just replace the belt without the others.

Have you replaced radiator? Does have it the infamous crack? I have 2013 lx and it had about 88k miles when i had indepedent mechanic replace radiator, water pump, idler, tensioner, upper and lower hoses, thermostat, and pcv. It was 3.5 hours of billable time. . He stated the parts in great shape.

Your belt is 12 years old....

I've seen 2UZ timing belts with 200k on them and they don't look that bad either. The issue is one of risk. If you travel remote, any one of these items could - at best - ruin a trip. A broken serp belt has been known to take out a number of nearby componets as it flaps around. Even if it doesn't cause expensive collateral damage, you won't be able to idle without coolant flow. Nor will you have any alternator power. So your options will be very limited. The risk is low but the consequences are high. Replace it and carry original as a trail spare.

Mine is an 08 with just 104k. Right at 100k.this summer, my belt started to shred and cought inside the fan. Took it to the shop and they replaced it and 1 pulley. FFWD last week, and same thing happened. Took it to different shop.Found another pulley bad, and replaced it again, and now have both pulleys and tensioners are good.

I looked at the belt last night and it looks fine. No cracking and can still read (although faint) the markings on the belt. But with 95k, I think I will order the belt, tensioner and idler pulley and replace in the spring.

Edit: Just ordered the above, along with the starter, a couple of oil filters and a set of plugs. Parts will sit on my shelf for a bit but what they heck.

For my older vehicle T100 I do it every 6 years or 60K miles same time as timing belt and water pump. I would say if you did it that often you would likely never have belt failure. Any belt that is very shiny and or showing signs of cracks should be replaced. Probably preaching to choir with that quote.

15 LX, 109K miles.. everything original and looks solid. Only fluid changes. The build quality of these is unparalleled. Have owned LC, LX from 80 series on.
