HI Mudders,

My 08' LX570 with 84K miles is driving like a charm.

However, a casual visual inspection I noticed some cracks on my serpentine belt and a weeping front passenger shock.

Do you guys normally replace all pulleys since they tend to be fairly inexpensive?

And would you advise replacing both shocks? Also, would AHC need to be somehow reset if I replace the shock? I unfortunately do not have techstream to do so.

I might be adding heater T connector and hoses to the order.

Anything else I should consider replacing before I place a large parts order? I've read Bell Lexus in AZ is the low cost part dealer to go?

Thanks!

AF

not a 200 guy.........but GX 460...

bought it used w/95K on it...went completely over it

yes..serp belt..Toyota OEM from Bell Lexus (great guys & service)

Had it installed......squealed like a stuck hog !!!!!!!!!

Ordered a different belt (Continental) from Amazon.....along with a tension pulley

Sounds like a brand new 4.6L Toyota !

Your belt is 12+ YO......I'd replace it & the tension pulley too

Shocks....yes both......

PS....wish I had an '08 LX w/84K on it !

Joe @ Bell Lexus will take care of ya.....

Tensioner is good to check, also consider the fan bearing bracket. My tensioner was fine but my fan bearing bracket was shot. I also replaced the idler but my original was fine.

Did you do the spin test on tensioner? If it spins several times ...greese is dry change it. If it stops at 1/2 point after spinning it, the bearings grease is full and its good.

I'd do shocks in pairs. Or if it's the front leaking just do all 4 as the rears are cheap

belt at 84k isn't a shock for a 12 year old truck. rubber degrades over time. I had a squeal/chirp in the tensioner but did the belt and idler pulley at the same time because they are inexpensive. Check your cooling hoses while you have the hood open, and the top of the radiator for the infamous hairline crack

PVC valve is like $10 and easy to swap once you find it (dead center front top but buried under the plastic cover and some insulation). Yours probably isn't totally bad but even though mine was OK I noticed when I shook it that it felt different than a new one... probably some crud built up in there and eventually doomed to cause a problem

At 84k I’d check pullies when changing but wouldn’t order them with the belt. Meaning I’d assume they are fine but while you have it apart you have a good opportunity to look deeper. Mine needed a tensioner & fan brg bracket at 150. Small idler was still perfect. PCV is a good idea by 100k.

Does it need valve cover gaskets? That would be atypical for 84k. If you have a leak, are you sure it isn’t the cam tower issue?
