Yeah, same here. When we were struggling to find an LC, we looked hard at a new TRD Pro. It is huge and has really comfortable seats. I suspect it would be a great road trip vehicle. It was just too big to be practical for the kind of trails we usually find ourselves on.
As far as modding, we researched this aspect and it seemed to me that there were plenty of modding options since most anything that fits a tundra will fit a sequoia. There seems to be a pretty big aftermarket for tundra.
I do not regret going with the LX over the sequoia even for a second, even with the huge difference in cargo space.
If I have a need for more interior cargo space than the LX has, or I need to carry a lot of people, I just rent a suburban. This happens about once a year.
