Fellas,
I've met a couple of you at meetings and will be at this month's meeting as well, but I wanted to give this board a heads up before putting this out as a general listing.
I'm selling my factory diesel -- 1987 HJ60 with 2H and A440 (auto). It's stock and I'm the second owner. It's a Canadian truck and all 24v. It has around 205,000 miles on it. The body and interior are in nice condition, minus some contained fender lip rust. The drivetrain is extremely strong and has been meticulously maintained by the previous owner (~20 years) and myself (~1.5 years). The big issue with the truck is that is has a rusty frame, so you're looking at either a frame swap or a drivetrain swap. I can give you all sorts of info around this as I just finished a very similar job on my other truck (putting a 12HT/H55f into an FJ60). In either case, you're looking at moving the engine mounts slightly. Everything else bolts right up.
Because the 2H is indirect injected, it'd make an ideal candidate for running SVO (waste veggie oil, as opposed to biodiesel). The 2H is also naturally aspirated, but you can add an aftermarket turbo -- keep the boost reasonable and monitor EGT's and you've got a clean running beast of a truck.
I'd love the truck to stay in Austin as there's a lot of knowledge (and parts) overlap with the 12HT engine that myself and another club member are now running. We could also make 'group' parts purchases and keep costs down. I wish I could afford to keep both trucks, but I need to focus on one project.
I'm asking $7000 for everything. The truck's legally registered in Texas and has all the parts you'll need for the project. Inspection and registration are both current. It's better than a SOR half cut and there's absolutely no dubious history to be worried about -- and no shipping charges! If you're just interested in the drivetrain we might be able to work something out as well.
Let me know if you'd like to take a look. I'm planning on bringing my other truck to the meeting (not this one) so if you want to see it, drop me a line here or call me (512-573-3486).
Thanks,
mike
