Eric, good to see the purchase went to good hands.

Hey steve, if you notice eric's avatar.... he's giving you the monkey paw!! hahaha

More congrats Rymers. We picked up our first one for our daughter to drive and love it. Enjoy since I've seen how well it wheels...

well it has to wheel better than our 40 that we had...hell just having PS will be a huge plus. I gotta tell you though I almost didn't recognize the FJC. sure doesn't look like the same truck we spotted at URE on your first run up Daniel. Looks great.

Well I have to admit, I had totally under estimated how much it was going to suck watching the 80 drive away, but it did make it a whole lot easier knowing it was the Rymers driving it away. I was really glad that they decided to buy it, one to get them back in a cruiser and two ,seeing it stay in the ONSC family. I guess its time to update the old sig line.........Oh yeah anybody got a good line on a 100?

I've seen a few on CL lately. Not sure if you're using it, but here is a neat utility to search the whole state at once. You can also use the site to search other states/cities.

North Carolina

I know what color you want. :) What years are you targeting?

I was hoping you would chime in, I have been looking at 98 through 02. I found a 99 in Charlotte with rear locker that looks like a fairly good deal, I really was trying to stay away from 99 because it has to have premium gas but it looks real clean, I may go look at it tomorrow. What year was yours again?

His is a 2000 it's in his sig line, I would look for a nice 1998 with rear locker and A/C and see if you can find service records to know if the starter, timing belt and manifolds had been replaced. They were recalled and fixed under warranty for cracking and you would have that ticking sound like an exhaust leak, something to listen for on any of the ones you look at, it more obvious at startup and under light acceleration.

IMHO, since we know steve won't really be wheelin' the 100 other than thru his yard and at the beach, i think you look for the newest, lowest mileage with records you can find at the best price. Gas prices seem to be creeping back up, so i'm sure people will start letting them go again like last year.

Yes, my little girl has grown up just a bit...

Of course if you want the rear locker go for the 98-99. I was more interested in the VSC (skid control) in the 00-02's which have the ATRAC instead of locker. I can't speak for how well the ATRAC traction control works compared to having a rear locker, but I think I'd still target the 2000-2002 model. If you later decide that the ATRAC isn't enough for making it over runs like Kodak, you can always disable the ATRAC and install lockers. ;)

On the other hand, when I was looking for a 100, I noticed the 98-99's tended to run a little less than the 2000+ (probably because of the lack of skid control).

I second the comment on watching for the cracked exhaust manifold(s). Our 100 has a cracked driver side manifold, and it sounds ghetto at startup, but after the engine warms up the ticking goes away. It's about $300 in parts to replace a manifold, so I would not shy away from a good deal just because of the ticking. Plus the folks in the 100 forum haven't noticed any long term problems with letting the leak go...

Also, if 90k service (timing belt, starter, etc.) hasn't been done (with receipt proof), I would also use that as a negotiation tool. Again, not something to prevent me from buying the truck. As long as the timing belt doesn't break on the drive home... Just kidding.

98 - Rear AC was not available on the LC, only the LX, rear diff lock and sunroof were options
99 - Rear AC, Rear diff lock and sunroof were all options
00 - ATRAC and VSC, rear AC and I believe Sunroof all become standard.

I picked up an 00 because of VSC and driving the family around.

If your budget is higher, get a 03 with a 5 speed auto tranny.
