Hey guys just wanted to post this up here as well, but I have been offered the opportunity to buy a "newer" 40 from a friend in Colorado. With that being said, I have to now make room in my garage. Currently what I have is a 73fj40 with a 2f motor from an 86 fj60. As many of you know I was in the process of tearing this 40 down to the ground so it is in pieces and by what I mean by pieces, all of the interior has been removed except the fuel tank and the steering column. All the wiring has been removed(it needs to be completely rewired). Also the front aprons and bib has been removed as well. I was going to take the tub off and replace it with a better tub but like I said, I have been given the opportunity to buy a 78 that already has all the bells and whistles with only 1 spot of rust. I have many pictures of everything that I will throw onto a discs for whoever buys it. I also have all the wiring taped and marked as well as all the bolts that have been removed are in individual baggies that are clearly marked as to where they go. I hate to give the project up but I already have 3 vehicles so a fourth is no good to my better half. I have everything a person needs to build this thing back up except new chassis parts, top, wiring kit(still have the old harness), rear barn doors.
As for the tub, the tub has the rust in usual spots, rear quarter panels, rocker panels, and does have rust on the front floorboard mainly on the passenger side. The problem is that the floor has a liner on it. As for the rocker panels, I do not have the replacement panels for these, but I do have full quarter panels with the fuel door cut out that I just bought. There is surface rust on the frame but besides that the frame is solid.
Once again I have all the parts needed to make a complete 40 except the rear barn doors, top, and wiring harness. Someone with the capabilities of welding at home could easily finish the job out and have a nice 40.
The 40 has all brand new tires to include a brand new spare tire. The tires are 33s sitting on 16 inch black painted wagon wheels.
Also has the full hard doors as well, which are in great shape.
I have plenty of extra stuff that will go with the 40 as well as another dash pad that I bought from a guy that should be here any day.
As for mechanics, the motor was running good before I removed the wiring running to the inside. I recently just put a new oil pan on, but does have a class 1 leak(very slow). Also the tie rod ends I believe need to be changed out, which I have a brand new set of those still in the box.
I am really only selling it, because the opportunity with the other one is too good to pass up and I do not have the room for two.
