I'll preface by saying yes I did a lengthy search and saw nothing similar to this issue.

New to me FJ60 (85) purchased non running and apparently sitting several years. 160k, fully desmogged 2F using Manafre kit, installed by a "cruiser shop" in S. Texas somewhere. PO was not tech savvy, but suspected a spark issue.
Trailered the rig home and confirmed the no spark. Pulled distributor, a newer looking Manafre DUI (not stuck in block at all) and discovered the internal shaft all but impossible to rotate in distributor housing. Additionally there was a noticeable shiny metallic quality to the oil on the oil pump end. Not wanting to smoke a low mile and clean 2F I started by dropping the pan and pulling the oil pump which looked normal and functional with no further evidence of metal shavings anywhere else in the engine. I replaced the oil pump as a precautionary measure and installed an Amazon special dizzy to further diagnose. Like any good 2F the old girl fired right up and runs quite nicely.
I've been wrenching for 30+ years and consider myself fairly competent but can't say I've ever seen this before and wracking my brain to understand the why of it.
I know I can't rely on this cheapo dizzy I installed, but reluctant to replace with another $400 unit unless I get to the root of things. Not sure what to do and hoping for a better option from the collective brain trust...
Anyone have a factory unit to sell?

How did the camshaft gear that drives the oil pump/ Dissy look?

I don't know much about those GM distributors, but there's either a ball bearing or bronze bearing that seized. Usually what happens is the dissy gear strips

I had an eBay HEI installed in my 2F for a few years. It seized. Put the stock distributor back in and have been driving it that way for at least 15 years.
