Hello & Howdy Everyone...
Like most of you I am on a number of offroading forums...one of them is Adventure4x4.net, a site that is non-vehicle specific and has a focus on Family Camping/Runs and Tread Lightly.
Well Adventure4x4 is mainly Socal and after reading about alot of the cool 3 day weekend camp/run/fun events we got 1 in Az....
So here are the details for SedonaFest to be held on Dec 7th, 8th, 9th...no cost, just go here
http://adventure4x4.net/waiting/showthread.php?t=1843
and register, hit the roll call thread under Fest Planning and you are in...
Also the give-a-way is stacking up nicely so if you can only make day trips then come up Sat to run the trails and Sunday for the goodies & late trail run.

It would be cool to see a strong Cruiser Showing on the red rocks

Dates: Friday Dec 7th from 2pm till Sunday Dec 9th afternoon

Location: Chavez Crossing Campground just on the fringe of Sedona Az. I have already reserved the whole place so if you go to this link
http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/coconino/rec...oup-camp.shtml
and then this link and click on each of the 3 areas
http://www.recreation.gov/campgroundMap.do
you will get lots of info on the site
We can have 50+/- rigs (rv & 4x4 mixed) and 100+/-people camping, I am sure some folks will want to stay in hotels which are within a couple of miles and the onsite dude seemed fine with extra rigs for the potluck & raffle....

Oh yeah since this is Fest then we gotta have the potluck and raffle!!!!

Potluck w/ Dinner Theater: Adventure4x4 will supply some chilli meat & carne asada meat to be cooked up since we will be in the home of the Cowboy Artist of America...so think cowboy chuck wagon cook-off....
Now 1 thing I am working on is to have a expedition company I know give us a slideshow/talk during dinnertime (think laptop to projector to white sheet hanging from trees)

Fireside Chats Friday & Sat night: After dinner we will have a couple of 30 min talks by various vendors about products like Lift kits, Recovery Gear, Ham Radio and more...

Give-A-Way on Sunday 10am: Ok I know you have been skimming this post just to get to this part
001_tongue.gif

The raffle tickets will be:
$1 each or
25 for $20 or
65 for 50 or
130 for 100 .
Proceeds to cover event cost, support the Adventure4x4.net website and Daring Adventures, a Phoenix Charity that gets Disabled Kids & Adults Outdoors.

Allpro is going over the top in not only bucking up for BorregoFest but also wanting to be in it knee deep for the inaugural SedonaFest. I have to say a huge thanks to Allpro for this type of support!
And now that things are getting serious we will be hitting up as many Socal & Az vendors as we can.
Camelback Toyota in Phx wants to come out and play...I am trying to get a couple of the cyclonic pre-filters from them, or something else good.
I also will toss in some brand new gear I have around like a steel winch cable that was never used and more. Oh and all you other Az Crew will get a tap on the shoulder to beat the bushes also for gear.

Runs: Broken Arrow is one of the Iconic runs in Sedona and I did it in my bone stock FJC with only 346 miles on the odo. As we start lining up trails more than likely we will divide folks into levels of trail challenge but everyone will hit Broken Arrow sometime through the day.
We will have a Friday afternoon run for folks who are around then.
Saturday runs of course.
And a post raffle Sunday afternoon run for folks who don't have to blast back down the highway to home.

So as a prelim wrap up of the idea so far:

Friday campsite check-in after 2pm
Friday afternoon run at 4pm?
Friday dinner is do it yourself @ 6pm
Friday Fireside Chat @8pm Topic TBA

Sat breakfast do it yourself at 8am
Sat hit the trails @ 9am or 9:30am depending on which groups
Sat everyone back at camp @ 5pm
Potluck at 7pm with Dinner Theater
Fireside Chat @ 8pm various topics till 10pm then general mumbling and drifting to sleep

Sunday breakfast do it yourself @ 8am
Sunday Strike camp and clean up till 10am then RAFFLE till noon +/-
Sunday lunch do it yourself and camp checkout at 1pm
Sunday trail run at 2pm till ???

I might be up for it, however it looks like the other site accounts for 60+ rigs. Add in some CSC guys and it's a bit large ;-) hopefully there's follow through with the idea of multiple runs. It would be me an my son and we'd either tent it or sleep in the tranquility of the 80.

Maybe the CSC guys could join the group but do Mingus Mt or another trail close by...60 is a lot of rigs for 4-5 trails. I will be off the following week so it works out great for me...

actually our people count is 60 but our rig count is in the 30's right now...
we will be dividing into groups of 10 and running trails in a set order like..
Group #1 Broken Arrow to Oak Creek Homestead to Greasy Spoon
Group #2 Oak Creek Homested to Greasy Spoon to Broken Arrow
Group #3 Greasy Spoon to Broken Arrow to Oak Creek Homestead
Group #4 (Mild) Schnebly Hill Rd & Hot Loop to Van Deren Cabin to Broken Arrow
Group #5 (Mild) Van Deren Cabin to Broken Arrow to Schnebly Hill Rd & Hot Loop
That alone covers 50 rigs and 100+ people...
Chavez Crossing Campground is set up for 56 rigs and they are ok with 100 people since some are at hotels...
It would be great to see some of you guys up there since the few runs I have done with this group have been excellent.
Also the Sunday give-a-way is a nice chance to get some goodies and support a quality charity

enjoy

I've posted this on other sites, but figured I'd hit this one up as well. AZFJ is planning a caravan up to Sedona that Friday. If any CCC'ers are interested in joining us for the trip here is the info:

SOAZFJ'ers Meet @ 0945 at I- 10 and Ina ( exact location TBA) for a 1000 sharp departure
Phoenix area AZFJ'ers will meet at 1130AM and depart at Noon (or whenever the Tucson people show up!) Quick Trip 2750 W. Thunderbird Rd

I did Broken Arrow last weekend and had a great time. My only advice, get out on the trails early because the Pink Jeeps WILL NOT give ROW (or so it seemed) and there are a ton of them after 10:00am.

If you're bigger than the pink jeeps...they move. They also try to get past comfortable looking trucks with heat or A/C as their customers tend to not like paying big bucks to ride like cattle in those rigs and understandably moreso after seeing plush rigs having more fun than them...for free.

yeah, well I don't know what to do about the "bigger" thing but I'd definitely agree that those folks (Pink Jeeps) didn't look too comfortable - it was cold and windy last Saturday. To keep on topic with this thread - all going up for Sedona Fest should be prepared to bundle up (or have a top and heater). Sounds like a good time - I'm thinking about going up for at least one day.

Now this sounds like a great first event trip for me. And if I can, I'll meet up with everyone at the QT. It'll be just me unfortunatly

crap...wife's xmas party on Saturday, mine on Sunday.:mad::mad:

sounded like fun!

We will be happy to have you! We have had a couple of rigs drop out of the caravan either because we are going too early or they aren't going at all, so the more the merrier. Please post up closer to the event if you plan on going with us so we know how many people to look for!

Who's headed to Sedona from here?

Its strange to see tons of other state people going crazy on other boards about this event and not much mentioned about it here in AZ... ???

Sorry to post this last minute, but if anyone needs any parts from All Pro and wants to save on shipping, Bob Brown (SKERSFAN) has generously offered to transport them in his ginormous trailer to help out anyone in need at the event. The only catch is he needs to pick up everything tomorrow night (Thursday) so he can head out early Friday AM. If anyone wants anything transported - please place the order with me (Terry) and specify its for Bob to bring out instead of UPS to ship and we will get you hooked up. This could potentially save you hundreds in freight costs so take advantage of the opportunity now and buy Bob a cold one in Sedona - I know I will! :thumbup2:
