I bought my truck used and it only came with one key, living like this for a years, I finally got around to programming an extra key. I bought a key and had it cut at the dealer it was about $60 at the parts department. The service department wanted another $60 to program it, I thought that was unreasonable so I did some research and bought one of these:

for $15, and followed the instructions here

The original key and new one now work, but after the truck is running the security light (light shaped like vehicle with key inside it) blinks, before it would stop blinking once the key was in. It is very annoying, does anyone know how to fix this short of electrical tape or disabling the light?

Okay figured it out it was on the third page of the original thread on the other forum:

"...by inserting the original key and turning back and forth from lock to on 10 times"

this works, no more blinking after engine key is in!
