Securing chrome gutter trim

Realized earlier today that the section of rain gutter trim that starts on the A pillar and finishes at rear edge of rear door had popped off on horizontal section. I was able to 'clip' it back on to the painted steel piece, however, when I push on the top edge of the chrome, it flexes inward while the bottom edge that curls around the steel stays in place. Is it just a friction fit? I didn't want to pull it out too far to look at the back side of the chrome, for fear of putting a crimp/kink in it. Is there double sided tape holding it on that has failed and I need to replace?

Somehow the clip at that joint managed to stay on the end when the section came loose.
