Another thread made me wonder about the best way to find the good deals locally. Personally, I've been using pretty much only CL. That primarily because I'm used to it, and also because I very rarely use Facebook at all otherwise for a number of reasons, so not naturally gravitating towards FB Marketplace. Once or twice in recent years I tried to compare the offerings and concluded that there was better choice on CL so I stayed with it. But admittedly, that could well have changed since, given that now just about everybody is spending most of their time on FB and talking about FBM. It also seems that CL offers a bit more anonymity so a bit more protection from lunatics perhaps (you know, the guy who bought your screwdriver and is now stalking you because it's not working properly...). OTOH, I get swamped by spam and potential scams in responses to CL posts. (Fun fact: I recently posted to state that something that was supposedly left outside for pickup first come - first serve was long gone, and I got a reply stating somebody wanted to buy my item....) The little I've done on FBM was also frustrating in that it seems like trying to limit the search to a smaller distance around a city did not work properly from what I've seen so far, don't know why, and results get swamped by posts in a bigger city nearby. Also don't know how to filter by posting date. (Tell me about those 2 if you know, please.)
