The princess collects her new cruiser today and our springr is sure to make a fine mess of the interior. I would like something to cover the seats & perhaps some barrier to contain him in the cargo area at times. You folks with 4 legged family members, what are you all doing? Ideas appreciated. Thanks, Jim

Right now we're just using large (but machine washable) cheap comforters I picked up at Wal-Mart. I will be getting one of these when they make them for the FJC:

I use a dog crate...no other way to keep a vehicle clean. You just have to vacuum around the perimeter of the crate (I'm using a 36" crate in my 100-series; not sure if you can even fit a crate in a FJ). BTW, dog hair does not stick to real leather, so leather seat covers would do the trick, too.

I have found the biggest risk from my dogs is that, with the seats folded down, the scratch the plastic seat back.

Thanks for the replys. Still not entirely sure what I'm going to do. Will keep you posted, Jim

I found this site that has many things including seat covers for the FJ. I have not really investigated any of the stuff, but thought it might help on your search. Let us know if you get something and it works. I have 4 very big, very furry dogs and would like to get something to protect the back seats too.

the site looks like it has a lot of stuff, but I checked a number of the selections, and the FJC did not show up yet in the pull downs. Guess we have to wait for the aftermarket to catch up with the market...

the manufacturers need to monitor sites/forums like this.

They will eventually. Heck, when I bought my FJC back in April Toyota didn't even have all it's advertised accessories available!

I had a Cabella's waterproof set of camoflage seat covers in my Jeep Cherokee and then Grand (actually used them the same set in two vehicles). They worked well for my Border Collie. Cloth seats were like new when I traded both of them. Won't fit the backs on my new Cruiser I bought but currently I have them on the bottom. I notice Cabela's list seat covers for the Tacoma and I'm going to do some measuring when I go to the dealership on the tire recall. They were about $75 to $85 for a set to do front and back.

I took the MUTTS to the lake in the FJ. It was a BREEZE to clean up. I vacuumed and then wiped down the inside in less than 5 min and amazingly the dog hair quickly vacuumed off the seats. I couldn't believe it. My dogs have long hair and it usually permanately weaves its way into the fabric, but that was not the case with the FJ. Of course my back bumper is scratched, but I feel that adds character. I didn't clean off the dog nose juice from the back window either. :grinpimp: The only main downside I have is the FJ is much taller than my other vehicle and I have two older dogs that I have to pick up and put in. They both weigh over 95 lbs. Oh well, it is doable!

I have the all-weather mats with my two dogs. Takes 5 seconds to "clean up" opening the back door and using a leaf blower!:)

I have those mats too, just wish they made some to go over the back of the seats when I have them down.

I found Pledge to be the best at cleaning the inside of tinted glass. I had to deal w/ that all the time when I had my doggie.:grinpimp:

x2. We use a long black bathroom rug with a rubber back. Got it from JC Penney. It's comfortable and when the dogs put weight on it it doesn't slide.
