How the heck can I turn off my passenger seat belt alarm. Every time I place my work bag on the seat it drives me crazy with the beeping!!!

Getting rid of the seatbelt chime

The seatbelt chime can be very irritating to say the least.
And if you set something down on the passenger seat such as groceries or even a laptop computer, chances are the dash light will come on that says the airbag for the passenger is now armed, and also the chimes will sound letting the passenger know to buckle up.

You can see why many get irritated over this feature.
You can choose to just do the passenger side (driver's side will still set off the chimes), or if you use the drivers side seatbelt when following the info below instead of using the passenger side seatbelt, it will turn off both chimes.

Seat belt chime
1. Turn the ignition switch on (without starting the rig)
2. Press the ODO/TRIP switch until the odometer displays "ODO"
3. Turn the ignition switch off
4. Turn the ignition switch on
5. Press ODO/TRIP switch immediately (within 6 seconds after turning the power switch ON) and hold it down for 10 seconds or more.
6. Continue holding the ODO/TRIP switch and fasten the front driver's seat belt.
7. Check that the odometer displays either "b-on" or "b-off" (it will be "b-on")
8. Press the ODO/TRIP button to change the display to "b-off".
9. Turn the ignition switch off.
10. Turn the ignition switch on while depressing the brake pedal.
11. Check that no buzzer sounds when sitting on the front passenger or drivers seat.
