just replaced my cats. I used rebuilt OEM cats from KC converters, oem gaskets and all new oem bolts and nuts. I could not get the flanges to meet very tightly and now I am getting some roaring from the cats when the truck is running and a rumbly idle. Is there a trick to this? I cleaned the old pipe flange ends up with steel wool.
BTW, this is one job I never plan to repeat. I would advise anyone considering it to pay a muffler shop to do this. Half the old bolts were welded on and damn hard to cut off, and, unless you follow the FSM and drop the front pipes all the way to the header you will find reassembly to be a massive headache.
