Ok, i am really thinking about getting a can of this today and putting it in the ol' truck. Can someone give me some info on it? What to buy, what's best and where to put and with how much?

Thanks.

Sea Foam is a brand name, thats what you will be looking for. I use the brake booster vacuum line to suck it into the motor and pour a bit thru the carb. Best way I have found to pour it in is to use an old water bottle with the nipple thinig on the end, just open it up, stick it in the end of the hose and it vacuume sucks in in.

I ran a can of it in a tank of gas and think it helped a lot. The rig seems to accelerate more smoothly than before. The ratio of Sea Foam to gas is on the can. There are lots of applications for it. I am sure someone will post a link to what the can looks like.

I picked it up at Advance Auto Parts for $4.95 a can (1 pint, IIRC).

Good chit. Sea Foams Deep Creep spray also rules for the carb, cleaning parts, lubricating, and can be used to get stuck nuts unstuck.

I'm sold even thogh it's a bit on the high price side.

its the only hose(about 1/2") that goes into the brake booster, undo it at the check valve(that the white thing on the booster) and suck the Sea Foam in there.

Pimp... where is the brake booster vacuum line, by the way?

Well i just got back from Napa and i got a can of this stuff. I am first going to put into my gas tank and see if i feel a difference. Then i am going to put it into the carb and get that bad boy cleaned. Thanks for the help ya'll.

When I did the sea-foam treatment a couple of weeks ago in the parking lot of the O'reily's I bought it at. There was SO much smoke coming out of the tail pipe afterwards I had people offering me rides home because they thought my motor blew!

I need to get another can and run it though the gas tank, as I just dumped it straight into the carb the first time.

Pimp... how much do you usually run into the brake booster line?

I think it says to use a 1/3rd of a can..............and thats about what I use. I actaully have never used it in my gas tank, just the motor

What type of improvement should i see when i put into the carb? I have read that some people put in when they do an oil change as well. Is this recommended? And do you have to do it every oil change?

Some will take a can of the stuff and split 1/3 into the air intake (carb), 1/3 into the gas tank, and 1/3 into the crank case (oil treatment).

thats not a bad idea doc. ill try it next tune up... thanks

One of the guys in our club swears by the stuff. But be ready to adjust your valves after you clean your fuel system.

Results will vary, of course - may smooth out that idle. You may or may not get a ton so smoke. I didn't. What I did get was thick and nasty though. She'll run happier with all that carbon cleaned out though.

Also, be careful putting it in the oil as a cleaner - stuff seems pretty harsh and could help open up a few seals for some leackage. I don't have any experience with it in the tank or crank case. Maybe someone can tell you otherwise (about the leaks)

jester... could you explain more regarding the valves after cleaning the fuel system? I ran a can in my tank and haven't yet experienced any problems. Should I be prepared to? This was about two tanks ago.

Well i put a full can of Sea Foam into my tank of gas yesterday on my way home and so i have already put 35 miles with the stuff in there....WHOA!! She is so much smoother now. I couldn't believe it. And to top it off she had a lil' bit more pep in her step. I am now going to go and get another can and use that for that carb.

LandPimp...i plan on taking the air intake off and putting some down in the carb. What side of the barrel do you recommend?

the inner one(closest to vavle cover) the outer is the secondary and won't open. All your really doing is trying to get the Sea Foam into the motor, its not really cleaning the carb(use carb cleaner for that) Thats why I use the brake booster hose, its easier to get it in that way.......it just sucks it in.
